The Priests singing "Pie Jesu" With The Choir of the Philharmonic Academy of Rome, Singers of The Basilica Of St Peters
http://www.thepriests.com The Lyrics to Pie Jesu and translation Pie Jesu, Pie Jesu, Pie Jesu, Pie Jesu, Qui tollis peccata mundi; Dona eis requiem, Dona eis requiem. Angus Dei, Angus Dei, Angus Dei, Angus Dei, Qui tollis peccata mundi; Dona eis requiem, Dona eis requiem. Sempiternam, sempiternam requiem. Lord, have mercy, Lord, have mercy, You who take away the sins of the world; Grant them peace, Grant them peace. Lamb of God, Lamb of God, Lamb of God, Lamb of God, You who take away the sins of the world; Grant them peace, Grant them peace. Peace everlasting, everlasting. The Priests Enjoy A Growing Flock The Priests, a vocal group consisting of just what the name implies, have been enjoying a great deal of exposure lately. The group has been featured on television shows, has performed in cathedrals and churches around Europe and has been the subject of articles in major newspapers. This likely has happened, in part, because a group of priests singing devotional songs is not what people usually think of as popular music. The Priests, however, can attribute a great deal of their recent popularity to their abilities rather than their image. Their love for the music comes through in their performances and the depth of their sincerity is apparent in their voices. Composed of three talented singers, two tenors and a bass, who have been singing together for 30 years, The Priests have turned their love of music into a means for them to reach out to audiences worldwide. And reach out they have. The group was featured on The Alan Titchmarsh's ITV show in September of 2008 and was, in that same month, the subject of a feature article in the UK's Daily Telegraph newspaper. They've also appeared on the Public Broadcasting Service in the United States and have even been the subject of an article in Time Magazine. The group has also seen some success on video sharing sites, where their traditional devotional music and Irish songs seem not at all out of place on what constitutes the most modern of ways to distribute music. In November, The Priests will release their first album on the Epic label, a subsidiary of Sony BMG. Record labels, whose business sensibilities are legendary, have long known that traditional music, be it sacred or secular, is a big seller and The Priest's unique sound lends something to it that has made it popular wherever they've performed. The group is recording in some rather prestigious locations, as well, including St. Peter's Basilica in The Vatican. All of the proceeds from their album sales are slated to go to charity, as seems fitting for musicians whose principal vocation is one of faith, not stardom. The Priests maintain an actively-updated website at ThePriests.com which contains audio of the group performing. Members consist of brothers Martin and Eugene O'Hagan and David Delargy, all of whom remain active with their clergy duties which, according to the group, come before anything else.
