Little Dipper
After uploading 3:00 AM, a still shot of my HiFi. The Related Videos tab gave me links to records being played on phonographs. An Idea I'd thought of but never followed through on. You can say I'm copying, but great minds do think alike. Thank you, speedyc395, Animatronixx, jasonlava, PostToastie and 78MAN.

Philips Capella 762 radiogram playing Carl Maria v. Weber
This video is dedicated to my fellow youtube member radiogram56 from Spain, who so often made us watch his stunning radiogram: a 1957 Philips Capella 762. You already got to know my Dual record player, but there´s more - and among others I also have a Capella 762. Today I´ll show you. Mine was already made in 1956 but appears to be the same model. You hear the little dance "L'Invitation à la valse" (= invitation to dance), which was originally composed for piano by Carl Maria von Weber and later was transformed for orchestral performance.

Don´t need an iPod! Here´s my 1957 Dual 1004 D record player
Here´s the most recent addition to my collection of fifties´ stuff: A Dual 1004 D automatic record player, produced in 1957 - and it´s still running! The song is "Wenn" by the James Brothers (Peter Kraus and Joerg Maria Berg), a german version of "When" which was originally performed by the Kalin Twins. Both versions of this song were released in 1958. If you don´t like the music or the feeling of watching a 50 year old machine: Be sure, there won´t be happening ANYTHING of your interest after the 1st fifteen seconds. ;) Whatever - I like this kind of keeping ancient atmosphere alive.
EDIT: Really didn´t know that 78MAN released a similar vid about a week before. See his Dansette playing the original version of this song by the Kalin Twins: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZBtkiwpelI

AutoAuto: Tchaikovsky played on an Opel Kadett
Christian von Richthofen and Rolf Claussen play a whole concert mainly using an Opel Kadett E 3-door hatchback as their drum set. The car is largely left stock, but fitted with 5 microphones inside. Just the engine and transmission-unit had been removed before as well as several interior components. Here´s the final of their awesome "AutoAuto" performance at Hachenburg/ Germany on 30.06.2007, when they played Tchaikovsky in the end of the show. It was hilarious! Thanks for that event, guys. To all viewers out there: If you haven´t seen them yet - I strongly recommend to do so! You won´t regret!!! For more on AutoAuto please view K4RDOSO´s channel. (Upload by kind permission of the AutoAuto crew. Please note: This time it wasn´t Kristian Bader, but Rolf Claussen performing.)

Schwarzfahrer TV coverage on hearse enthusiasts
Here´s a little footage about some classic car fans being especially into hearses that were taken out of service. It´s called "Schwarzfahrer", which is a pun that doesn´t work in English. "Schwarzfahrer" is the German expression for a fare dodger, but literally translated it´s "black driver", which has become a common expression for hearse drivers over here, because their vehicle are quite often painted black. If you don´t understand German, you... errrr... possibly now have a great opportunity to TRY to understand German for the first time in your life. Good luck! ;)
Oh, I forgot: There´s no need to complain about the quality, for I already KNOW that it sucks. And so does the sound, but... Hey, it´s for free and I´m a newbie ;)

Lale Andersen - Lied eines jungen Wachtpostens (Lili Marlen)
Say hello again to the Dual 1004 D. Equipped with a flip-over stylus cartridge, it´s well-suited for 33 or 45 rpm microgroove records as well as for the old 78 rpm ones made from shellac. You´re going to hear a song you might already know: "Lili Marlen" (sometimes typed "Lilli" or "Marleen" or even "Marlene" ), sung in German by its one and only original performer: Lale Andersen.
Lili Marlen originally was a poem, written by German teacher Hans Leip in 1915. It was set to music twice: The first time in 1935 by Rudolf Zink without major success, the second time by Norbert Schultze in 1938, of which the latter became the legendary version. It was recorded for the very first time on 2nd of August 1939 at the Electrola studios of Berlin by Lale Andersen and the Bruno Seidler-Winkler Orchestra (according to http://www.lale-andersen.de ).
Sorrily the record is somewhat worn out which leads to rather loud cracking souds. Please note: What you see and hear in this moment is obviously a copy of the ORIGINAL stamping of this record (Electrola 6993), pressed in 1939 as "Lied eines jungen Wachtpostens (Lili Marlen)" a few years before the song became famous in the whole world, simply named "Lili Marlen". Even more interesting could be the fact, that the subtitle on its label appears to be misspelled "Marien" instead of "Marlen". Anybody ever heard of this "printing error" edition? If so, please contact me.

Classic hearses shown in Duisburg
We showed our historic hearses on a German classic car exhibition in October 2006. Pictures taken by Paladin, Music borrowed from File not found. No deeper correlation between lyrics and pictures - i just like the track. *g* Just a test vid, you know? Had more music than pictures available at the moment. ;)

1957 record changer: Minuet by Boccherini & El Condor Pasa
Here is my 1957 Dual 1004 D record player again. This time you see its automatic changer mode. That historic apparatus can do the same performance with up to 15 records at one haul. Both are rather famous instrumental tunes - here played in German. The first being a minuet by Luigi Boccherini, supposedly composed in 1771 and here performed by German conductor Ferry Taby and his concert soloists. I consider this record as being pressed in the mid fifties, but I don´t know for sure. The second tune is the renowned folk song El Condor Pasa, which was written in 1913 by Peruvian composer Julio de La Paz, here performed by the "Sortilège de la flute des Andes avec Facio Santillan" (You haven´t never ever heard of them before? I haven´t either!). The record was released in 1970 - as well as the better known version sung by Simon & Garfunkel. In case you don´t like the music and prefer real thrilling action: The changing performance starts at 3:42 (Sorry, I didn´t have any Justin Timberlake records being released once upon a time in earlier decades... And if I had them, I´d never play them likewise - to show all my due respect for that 50 year old machine doing its work here). Regarding the scary sound you hear when the music don´t play: I guess I have to grease the mechanics soon... Please note: The record player was never refurbished in any way and is shown in original condition! So who wouldn´t forgive this minor malfunction? ;)
P.S.: There´s more to come one day. Still working on my 1961 Rex Perpetuum-Ebner record changer and my Parlophon gramophone (undated, but estimated pre 1920).
