Martha Nussbaum on Aristotle: Section 1
In this program, the far-reaching philosophical ideas of Plato's star pupil are examined by noted Brown University professor Martha Nussbaum. Aristotle overcomes Plato's dualism of the intelligible and sensible worlds with his principle of inseparable nature of eternal matter and form. The principles of potentiality and actuality are examined, along with Aristotle's theory of the four causes—material, formal, efficient, and final—which account for changes in all things. These theories of constancy and change are credited with the progress of scientific inquiry over the ages.

Aristotle Onassis The Golden Greek
Aristotle Onassis 1906-1975 was the smartest businessman of Asia Minor and Greece.
The immigrant from Smyrni, made his first million by his wits alone. Nobody helped him. He was 23.
Flamboyant, tempestuous, raucous, truculent, and belligerent, lavish and generous, loving and cruel, loved wine, women and song, in that order.
Onassis was a big spender. He worked hard and played hard. He "sailed in high winds" and made it.
Aristo was a winner. He had big dreams. Big ideas. His projects were big, bigger than anyone else's, and he executed the plans perfectly.
Relentless in the single minded pursuit of his objectives.
Never afraid to speak his mind. His enemies, and he had many, called him "the old Turk", but never to his face.
Self educated, by the shores of Smyrni, no Continental Engineering and London School of Economics degrees, like the current crop of shipowners.
Maria Callas was the only true love of his life. Maria, always adored him and her last pilgrimage was to Skorpios and his grave.
Maria stated once: "I would like to be Maria, but there is La Callas who demands that I carry myself with her dignity." Aristo freed the Maria in herself.
He met Kings, Presidents, Sheiks and dictators. Dated Princesses, stars, starlets and divas. He had seen it all, and done it all.
Onassis advice on being successful: "To be successful, keep looking tanned, live in an elegant building (even if you're in the cellar), be seen in smart restaurants (even if you only nurse one drink) and if you borrow, borrow big."
He said once: "After a certain point, money is meaningless. It ceases to be the goal. The game is what counts."
Aristo, was true to his name, the very best player in the game.

Eleftherios Venizelos Aristotle's Disciple
Eleftherios Venizelos. Arguably, the greatest orator, and political mind of Greece and Europe in his time, the greatest Hellenic statesman since Pericles.
His 1910 speech, in Athens, was one of the greatest oratoric achievements of the 20th century:
"I do not promise from one day to the next the Government will inaugurate the Golden Age. As the malady is serious the treatment will be long. What I promise is that the treatment will be radical and effective.
The first duty of the politician is to sacrifice his personal interests and those of his party to the general interests of his country.
It is also his duty to speak always the truth, to great and small, without bothering about the displeasure this loyalty may provoke."
His wanting to avoid war with Bulgaria, he explained thus in the Assembly in 1917:
"A responsible Minister had no business to hurry into a war in which the chances of success...had the narrow margin of 60% success as the General Staff told me."
Venizelos' speeches should be a must read for every future Prime Minister of Hellas and even future aspiring demagogues.
The Venizelos miracle 1910-1920 touched every aspect of Hellenic life. From simplifying the Court system to protecting consumers from creditors, redressing the unfairness in the tax system and his educational reforms.
Eleftherios Venizelos in his opening speech to the Hellenic Parliament of 1928 he stated: "Some accuse me of being overly optimistic... no great task can be completed without deep faith in the project itself."
His 1928-1932 memorable four years prepared Greece to join Europe, when Constantine Karamanlis dragged her in kicking and screaming.
