Edward Caulfield is a Munich, Germany based recruiting professional working with the SWISSCONSULT organization, which is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Born in California, Edward likes to say that the reason he is in Germany is genetic; all his life a German gene has been longing for expression, pulling him further and further East until he landed in his current Munich home 15 years ago. Since that time, Edward has been helping others make the jump across the Atlantic and adjust to doing business in Europe. He has been working in recruiting for the last two years, focusing primarily on customer facing roles in High Technology.
Although European business is immensely closer to US realities today than it was 20 years ago, large gaps remain. As the saying goes: "Europe is just like America, except where it is different". With a little effort you can relatively clearly identify the remaining technical hurdles that have to be met, however cultural hurdles are as obscure and confusing as they ever were. From simple things, like different languages, currencies and working calendars, to the more challenging aspects of employment and liability laws, Edward helps his clients make the right connections and get qualified feet on the ground as quickly as possible.
