Trip to the Large Hadron Collider
I visited the incredible Large Hadron Collider in Geneva. This is technology on a truly amazing scale! For more (including who's who in the vid) go to my two blog entries about this: http://www.badastronomy.com/bablog/2008/04/27/my-excellent-cern-adventure-the-video/

Large Hadron Collider - The Search For The Higgs [1 of 3]
Click Playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fJ6PMfnz2E&feature=PlayList&p=EF1B69117E068274&index=0&playnext=1
On November, 2007 the most complex scientific instrument ever built will be switched on. The Large Hadron Collider promises to recreate the conditions in the early universe. By revisiting the beginning of time, scientists hope to unravel some of the deepest secrets of our Universe.
Within these first few moments the building blocks of the Universe were formed. The search for these fundamental particles has occupied scientists for decades but there remains one particle that has stubbornly refused to appear in any
experiment. The Higgs Boson is so crucial to our understanding of the Universe that it has been dubbed the God particle. It explains how fundamental particles acquire mass, or as one scientist plainly states: "It is what makes stuff
stuff..."

Radiohead - Super Collider (Live)
New Song Unreleased. It was played in the concert in Malahide Castle, Ireland on 06.06.08. Amazing concert. There was even a massive rainbow before it kicked off, call it weird coincidence or a devine sign :)

Large Hadron Rap
Rappin' about CERN's Large Hadron Collider! Links below...
Apparently YouTube fixed the sound! Still, Will Barras made two options trying to get around the original problems:
Other YouTube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3iryBLZCOQ
Vimeo: http://www.vimeo.com/1431471?pg=embed&sec=1431471
Vimeo is downloadable if you log in.
There has been a lot of interest in the original mp3, lyrics, and vocals for remixing. You can find all that here:
https://www.msu.edu/~mcalpin9/lhc_rap/largehadron.html
Images came from:
particlephysics.ac.uk, space.com, the Institute of Physics, NASA, Symmetry, and Marvel
The talented dancers doubled as camera people, with some work by Neil Dixon. Stock footage is CERN's.
Will Barras is responsible for the killa beats:

And thanks to MC Hawking, who first thought of using computer-voice to bring Stephen Hawking to the world of rap :-)

The rapper has a day job (we agree this is a good thing) as a science writer.

They'll have a lot of data to sort. 15 million GB per year, actually. Want to get involved and donate your computer's downtime? Try LHC@home:

LHC - Large Hadron Collider - Messing with the unknown
**NOTICE** I'm not supporting anything in this video, I simply read an article, found it interesting and decided to share it, nothing more. This video is NOT a wacky conspiracy theory and NOT intended to scare you, just make you aware. The risk of anything going wrong is low, but the risk is there nonetheless. As I say in the video, I have an interest in things such as this, but I don't agree messing with things that are not properly understood that could be extremely dangerous for our planet as well as us. Now nothing is likely to go wrong when the LHC is switched on in May, but if it does, and remember that's a BIG if, then we are in some serious shit because it would be irreversible.

CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC)
A video giving a tour of the LHC (underground accelerator) at CERN. Measuring 27km in circumference, it will become the world's largest particle accelerator. The first beams are due for injection mid-June 2008 with the first collisions planned to take place 2 months later. The LHC will become the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator.
