このシングル盤は、'７４年８月２５日にリリースされた、Ａ面は、「夏しぐれ」、Ｂ面は、「危険なリンゴ」が収録。
この「夏しぐれ」は、筒美京平が創った名曲(作詞は、松本 隆)、チャートとセールスは未把握。
THE alfeeの前身は、明治学院高校生を中心に活動していた、フォーク・グループのコンフィデンスだった。
このコンフィデンスは何度かメンバーの変遷があり、明治学院大学生になった桜井 賢、三宅康夫、坂崎幸之助と他のグループで活動していた高見沢俊彦(坂崎幸之助に誘われて参加)が加入しこのかたちになった。
プロとしてデビューするに際して、ザ・スパイダースのリーダーの田邊昭知がオーナーの『田辺エージェンシー』に所属し、その田邊から半ば強引にグループ名をTHE ALFIE(アルフィー)に変えられた。
※音楽情報誌を発刊させているオリジナルコンフィデンス社(現：オリコン社)と混在するので また、グループにはリーダーが必要なんだからと云う理由から、初代リーダーに坂崎幸之助が選ばれた 現在は、２代目高見沢俊彦に替わっている
オリジナルの楽曲も保有していたが、アイドル・グループとして売り出そうとする『田辺エージェンシー』の戦略で、売れっ子職業作家２人↑に作品の作成を依頼。
し、
最強の楽曲「夏しぐれ」が完成した。
銀座の山野楽器等々でお披露目され、マスメデアを通じて大々的に宣伝もされた。
が、
全くヒットしなかった。
オリジナル・メンバーであった三宅康夫は、第３弾「府中捕物控」(歌詞に問題が生じ中止)をリリースする直前の'７５年に家庭の事情により脱退。
日本ビクターとの契約も解除。
この後、３年間は所属レコード会社はなく『田辺エージェンシー』所属のムッシュかまやつ、研 ナオコ等々のバッキングを担当しつつライブ・ハウス等で活動を。
日本ビクターに棄てられ、不遇時代にも一生懸命に活動していたALFIEに、キャニオン・レコードから救いの手が差し伸べられた。
'７９年にグループ名をTHE Alfeeと改め「ラブレター」をリリース。
だが、
全くヒットの兆しはなかった。この後１０枚シングル盤をリリースするもヒットは出なかった！
そして、
THE ALFEEと名を改めた、１２枚目(ビクターからの通算では１４枚目)の'８２年１２月にリリースした「別れの律動」で初めてチャート100内にランク・インした。
'８３年にリリースされた「メリーアン」で一気にブレイクし、ＮＨＫ紅白歌合戦にも初出場
因みに、
チャートの第１位を獲得したのは、'８４年にリリースされた「恋人達のペイヴメント」
これだけ、ヒット楽曲を量産しているのに、
七不思議だが、「メリーアン」以降はチャート・インの常連であるにも拘わらず、一度も『ミリオン・セラー』を獲得したシングル盤はないんです。

The Kitchen Range and Cookshop in Framlingham, Suffolk supply, fit and service Esse, Rayburn and refurbished Aga kitchen ranges and also sell cookware. They are rather hidden away next to Zorba's in Well Close Square so had an open day to remind people where they are. They gave away so much Lemon Drizzle Cake they had to have a hurried second baking!
