GP2 "Bruno Senna kills Dog " Senna atropella a perros
na retires after hitting dog during GP2 race
Brazilian Bruno Senna, nephew of the late triple Formula One world champion Ayrton, retired from a GP2 support race at the Turkish Grand Prix on Sunday after hitting a stray dog that ran onto the track.
The safety car was deployed after two dogs appeared on the circuit during the race, some three hours before the grand prix was due to start.
Senna, 24 years old and joint championship leader before the weekend, hit one of them. The impact broke the car's front right suspension.
The other dog escaped through an exit gate.
The Brazilian, who had worked his way up to sixth place from 15th on the starting grid before the impact, made his anger evident when he returned to the pits.
Animals have proved a hazard to motor racing drivers over the years.
Anthony Davidson hit a groundhog during last year's Canadian Formula One Grand Prix while running in third place behind the safety car for Super Aguri and on course for his first points. His team folded last week.
ESTAMBUL (Reuters) - El brasileño Bruno Senna, sobrino del triple campeón de Fórmula Uno Ayrton Senna, se retiró de la carrera de GP2, disputada el domingo antes del Gran Premio de TurquÃa, tras chocar con un perro callejero que entró a la pista.
El coche de seguridad tuvo que entrar en acción cuando dos perros entraron al circuito, tres horas antes de que comience la carrera principal.
Senna, de 24 años, chocó contra uno de los perros y el impacto afectó a la suspensión de su coche, mientras que el otro can escapó por una salida de emergencia.
El brasileño, quien se habÃa posicionado en el sexto lugar antes del impacto, aunque habÃa salido 15º en la parrilla, mostró su enfado cuando se vio forzado a regresar a los boxes.
Los animales han sido en otras citas un elemento del azar que los pilotos han debido sortear durante las carreras. El año pasado el británico Anthony Davidson golpeó a una marmota durante el Gran Premio de Canadá cuando iba tercero en su Super Aguri, dispuesto a conseguir sus primeros puntos.
