Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote
Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. Wiimote headtracking at Nordic Game Jam 2008
Dodge or Die game using wiimote headtracking. Created over three days at the Nordic Game Jam 2008. Based on our favourite game engine Unity and a hacked Wii Remote used for head tracking (as suggested by Johnny Chung Lee). The five-man team featured Patrik Svensson of shiftcontrol, Joachim Ante of Unity, Kim Hansen of Pladen Over, Mikkel Eskesen of Game Audio Denmark, Allan Kemp of Stainless Games. Special thanks to Mads Ny Larsen for help with building the infrared tracking glasses.

faceAPI 3D headtracking requires only a webcam
http://www.faceapi.com. This 3D head-tracking software from Seeing Machines can track head position in X,Y and Z - unlike the Sony headtracker. This means you miss out on the cool "zoom" effects when you get close to the screen, because the software has no understand of how far away you are from the screen. 3D VR Headtracking test 02
This is my second headtracking test. Now I pass the results of my 2-marker tracking algorithm to an OpenGL virtual environment test program, which uses that date to calculate my head's position in 3D space. This calculated head position, is then used as a viewpoint for the virtual environment.
Being able to watch the 3D environment from different angles, by natural motions of ones head, gives a higher level of immersion in the virtual world.
