DC-10 Air Attack Humboldt Fire Chico, CA Part 1
Fire Fighters on the front line. A DC-10 is used to fight the Humboldt Fire in Northern California. By day three the fire jumped the fire line seen in this video and advanced three miles northeast from that point. The inmates in the orange suits along with CalFire put it all on the line and took big risk. Had the fire started a few more miles east on Highway 32, Paradise CA would have been in the eye of the storm.

Dr. Clyde Roper Vs. The Giant Humboldt Squids
Dr. Clyde Roper of the National Museum of Natural History has studied giant squid for 35 years. In the spring of 1997, he led a $5 million expedition to the South Pacific to gather information on giant squid and other sea life. So far, the only evidence of the squid's existence is the occasional carcass caught in a trawler net or found in the bellies of sperm whales. "It's a big ocean out there," says Roper, "and we don't know precisely where the habitat is. We know it exists, but we don't know exactly where."
