First demonstration in Rwanda-Kigali 17 Nov. 1991
On 17 november 1991, the political parties opposed to Habyarimana government, organized a demonstration in Kigali, then in Butare (11 Jan. 1992).
Later in 1993, members of the opposition (like Justin Mugenzi pictured here) joined Habyarimana side in the Hutu Power movement which was involved in the genocide of Tutsi. Justin Mugenzi (PL), Jean Kambanda (MDR), Jérôme Bicamumpaka (MDR) etc. former opposants to Habyarimana are today accused of genocide by the Prosecutor of the ICTR. Others, like Agathe Uwilingiyimana (MDR) or Landoal Ndasingwa (PL) had been killed on 7 April 1994.
