Immersion
Old City Hall, Toronto gets a temporary nighttime makeover. The recently refurbished Romanesque Revival building is bathed in colour and excitement in one of Xavier de Richmont's astounding projection light shows. Part of Toronto's Cavalcade of Lights, the presentation's soundtrack was ominous and yet strangely inviting. Equipment used was barely adequate to capture the idea, let alone the essence of this artspiece which is why there is no audio.

Demo 07: Total Immersion, D'Fusion
Total Immersions's software, D'Fusion, enables the real-time integration of interactive 3D graphics into live video flows. Operating on standard PC devices and compatible with HD, this technology blurs the line between the virtual and real world. D'FUSION allows for competitive augmented-reality applications in both the entertainment and industrial arenas. The use of augmented reality under mobile constraints is among the latest trends tht Total Immersion has been exploring.

2008 Mexico Immersion
Saludos from Alliant in Mexico City!
On behalf of Alliant International University and its Office of International Programs, we are pleased to announce that registration for the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) 2008 Mexico Immersion Program is now open! The program includes internationally known experts who will be joining us as instructors. This will be an enriching cultural experience and profound opportunity for professional enrichment. We hope you will make arrangements to join a community of mental health professionals intent on enhancing cross-cultural and international competencies, particularly with an eye towards better serving the needs of Latino communities. The dates of the program are July 6th to August 9th and the program fee is $4,450.00 for five weeks.
Here is a small sample of the things we will be doing:
• A trip to Veracruz
• The Frida Kahlo Museum
• A temazcal - (indigenous steam bath)
• Visits to pyramids and other ruins
• Lectures on topics such as current political & social issues in Mexico, GLBT issues in Mexico, immigration, local economics & politics, art, Liberation Psychology, and many more
• Visit to the Basilica -- the site of the appearance of the Virgin of Guadalupe
• And much much more...

Email Dr. Jason Platt at jplatt@alliant.edu and confirm that you are planning on participating in this year's immersion program and for which classes you intend to register. A minimum of 10 students must register for the class to be offered.
A deposit of $250 is due on February 15th. This needs to be sent to Thomas Swank at the San Diego Campus. Please contact him at tswank@alliant.edu or at (858) 635-4790 to make payment arrangements. There will be an additional $200 fee after this date, so please avoid this by contacting him soon! The program was filled to capacity last year and we were required to close admissions.

Virtusphere - Full Body Immersion Virtual Reality
This looks like the closest thing yet to a real-life holodeck! The Virtusphere is (as the name suggests) a large hollow sphere which sits on a set of computer monitored wheels. This allows the sphere to rotate a complete 360º whilst still allowing the computer to track the movments.
