Con una actitud artísticamente revolucionaria, nace en Junio 18 de 1.984 el nombre de KRAKEN, con un repertorio de temas interpretados pero con algo muy claro, las composiciones debían ser netamente en castellano.
El inicio de este su sueño musical, del nacimiento del Titán del rock en Colombia, se plasmó con el concierto de lanzamiento oficial en Medellín, en el ya desaparecido teatro Lux de Manrique, el 22 de septiembre de 1.984 ante 1.200 personas. Para 1.985 se retira el guitarrista rítmico Jaime Tobón, reemplazándolo Ricardo Posada con quien ya Elkin había trabajado en KRIPZY. El grupo adquirió mas carácter, fuerza y credibilidad musical, teniendo como objetivo inmediato: COMPONER. Nacen entonces las primeras canciones: Nada ha cambiado aún, Todo Hombre es una Historia y Muere Libre, temas con autonomía, ideología y un sonido con gran influencia del Heavy y el Hard Rock.
KRAKEN , actualmente esta compuesto es por : Andrés Leiva (Guitarras) , Carlos Cortés (Batera), Luis Alberto Ramírez (Bajo) , un músico invitado (Teclados y Sintetizadores ) y Elkin Ramírez como su vocalista líder.
Para sorpresa de todos sus seguidores la banda recibió en el mes de Junio de 2.004 Disco de Oro por las ventas de su álbum Huella y Camino , en el mes de Octubre del 2.004 KRAKEN es invitado a cerrar el primer día del Festival Rock al Parque en su Décimo aniversario, y conmovió a la capital luego de reunir a más de 100.000 espectadores.
