Bolivar Ramilus discusses U.S. meddling in Haitian politics
Brian Concannon translates Bolivar Ramilus at a workshop at the Latin American Solidarity Coalition meeting. This workshop took place at the UIC Medical Center on 04.15.07
The LASC website described Ramilus as "a Haitian peasant leader and former member of Parliament from the Fanmi Lavalas Party who was hounded by death threats following Haiti's U.S.-supported coup in February 2004, forcing him into exile for more than a year. "

"Haiti: Harvest of Hope" - Trailer
For more information:
http://www.teledyol.net/KP/HoH/HoH.html
Harvest of Hope is the quintessential primer for understanding the roots of the current crisis in Haiti. The film dramatically captures seminal moments in the history of Jean-Bertrand Aristide and the Lavalas movement that swept him into the presidency in December 1990. Haiti: Harvest of Hope was originally planned as a documentary about democracy coming to Haiti with the election of Jean-Bertrand Aristide in December 1990. During the final editing of the original (late September 1991) Haiti was struck by yet another military coup. Editing of the first version came to a halt as Kevin Pina (the filmmaker) returned to Haiti and spent the next three weeks chronicling the brutality and machinations of Haiti's new military leaders and their supporters. Kevin Pina returned to Haiti in late July 1993 just after the negotiation of the Governor's Island Accord between the Haitian Government in exile and General Raoul Cedras. Pina returned again in 1994 to film Aristide's return to Haiti. The world television premiere of Harvest of Hope was in Haiti on Mother's Day, March 28, 1994. The broadcast was dedicated to the mothers of Haiti who sacrificed so much during the years of the coup to restore democracy to Haiti. The Creole version was produced in association with Jean-Claude Martineau who also introduced the film on Haitian National Television. The first English version of Harvest of Hope was shown to a sold-out house at the Mill Valley, California Film Festival in the summer of 1994. Never having received wide distribution since, Harvest of Hope is a rare film that few have had the opportunity to experience.

Haiti: The UNtold Story
This was an earlier version of what eventually became "Haiti: We must kill the BANDITS." It was meant as a placeholder for the final film which has since undergone several rounds of editing. It's release was seen as necessary and timely given the human rights violations that were occurring in Haiti during that period.

Wendy Williams, Roland Martin, Oprah Winfrey, 50 Cent on CNN
Boyce Watkins, Wendy Williams and Roland Martin are on CNN's Paula Zahn Now to discuss 50 Cent v. Oprah Winfrey. There was a feud going on between the rapper and Oprah, which led to tremendous chaos in the hip hop community. Watkins appeared with Williams on her show many times on WBLS in New York to help mediate the dispute. He also appeared with Williams later in the year to discuss the Jena 6 case with Al Sharpton. Finally, Watkins proposed marriage to his fiance, Romana Lavalas, on Wendy's show, leading to a national frenzy over his engagement. Wendy described Watkins as "One of the most eligible bachelors in America", which was part of the reason for her shock at his sudden wedding proposal in front of 11 million people.
Dr. Watkins has also directly challenged Bill O'Reilly (O'Reilly Factor) on their racism and has referred to Juan Williams, a black FOX News analyst as "the eternally happy negro". Watkins is a regular contributor on issues related to Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the 2008 presidential campaign. He has also commented on the rapper 50 Cent, Kanye West and other members of the hip hop community. His site is www.BoyceWatkins.com.
Dr. Watkins is a regular guest on CNN, FOX News, BET, CBS, ESPN, and other national media. He was the source of some controversy with Bill O'Reilly from the O'Reilly Factor, and has been a guest on other Fox Shows such as Hannity & Colmes. He has also publicly disputed Bill Cosby for stating that african-american youth and the hip hop generation are not very productive. Watkins wrote "What if George Bush were a Black Man?" and "Everything you ever wanted to know about college", which he argues is an appeal to the MTV generation to look past 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, TI, Kanye West and others to explore their educational potential. Dr. Boyce is a Finance Professor at Syracuse University and a graduate of The Ohio State University. He recently spoke at The University of Kentucky and demanded that they increase their numbers of black students and faculty. He was also one of the instrumental black leaders behind the scenes during the cases with the Jena 6, Don Imus and Michael Vick. He worked closely with Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson, appearing on the air with them to suggest strategies to get Imus off the air. It was Dr. Watkins' idea to challenge his corporate sponsors that led to Imus' dismissal. He was also outspoken on Barry Bonds' situation and the OJ Simpson trial. Watkins argues that Barry Bonds might be a jerk, but his alleged indiscretion is no worse than the evidence against Lance Armstrong for the use of performance enhancing drugs. He made his comments on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, The Wendy Williams Experience, CNN, FOX, BET, CBS and other networks.

Filmmaker Kevin Pina challenges the contemporary view of Haiti, revealing the hidden role of the 'international community' in Haitian politics. This provocative and lively film takes the viewer into parts of Haiti where few Western journalists dare to tread, and includes shocking footage of unreported human rights abuses, some which have been astonishingly conducted by UN forces. Pina's film stands out because it connects the tragic events in Haiti with what he assesses as foreign intervention designed to deter democracy. Learn the side of the Haiti coverage not seen in the corporate news media.
