Letus35 FE Test footage
This is a short 2 min ish video I edited from footage shot with the Letus35Flip Enhanced. Used different lenses to see the effects. Basically the picture quality is very good, some vignetting with 20mm lens cos did not zoom in enough.

HG10 + Letus35 Mini - it's love :)
My Letus35 Mini came in the mail today and I just had to use it right away :)
This is raw footage straight from the camcorder. Absolutely nothing was done to it.
I made the same mistakes with the Letus as many seem to do. First of all, most of the footage is shot with the Letus turned off. The alignment / zoom factor has to be changed (I need to zoom into the GG 'ground glass' some more in order to get rid of the vignette).
Getting all the settings right takes practice. However, I can't believe how well this worked out. I'm so proud :)
The color comes from the Cokin filter (Sepialight) and the polarizer. It was a hot and sunny day in Denmark today - June 2nd, 2008 - 30C+ (86F+).
I added some photos of the setup at the end of the clip. The rod support is from Letus as well.
Focus isn't perfect at all - that takes practice too. Maybe I need a bigger, external screen? and / or follow focus?
All in all, I'm so excited about this adaptor...
If other Letus / DOF users see something that needs attention, please let me know.

LETUS35 FLIP FOR XL MAINTENANCE AND BEYOND
READ NEW MOUNT MODS FOOTNOTE AFTER CLICKING "MORE": This clip is a tour inside the workings of a modified Letus35 for purposes of advanced enthusiast research and development only.
Owner-operators of the Letus35 are strongly advised not to attempt repairs of their own. Any expedition into the appliance may end up in misadventure and it will be hardly fair to expect the manufacturer to assist in putting such damage right.
This clip is not intended to be used as a tutorial.
This clip is not endorsed by the manufacturer and the methods of dissembly are not representative of approved procedures.
This example of the Letus35 has been significantly modified and should not be held to represent the manufacturer's original work and fitment.
FOOTNOTE:
The flip enclosure should normally not need to be opened. For cleaing, all mirrors can be accessed, albeit with difficulty via existing portals.
Dust motes can be successfully moved with a fine air jet (camera canned air) directed into one portal and holding the other portal close to the screen of an operating CRT television set. The dust motes tend to be attracted to the TV screen.
Opening the enclosure by the method demonstrated is not recommended unless the adhesive bonds at the toes of the front and rear longitudinal mirrors are first released from the case by trimming away or parting with a sharp blade. The longitudinal mirrors span both halves of the enclosure at an angle.
Forced separation of the halves without releasing the toes of the mirrors will impose bending loads on the mirrors which may break. Bending loads are not imposed on the transverse mirrors if the enclosure halves are carefully separated along the lens optical axis.
Servicing or repair of the Letus35 is best left to the manufacturer.

When drilling and tapping screwhole on a radial centre into the longest lug channel, make sure the edge of the screw does not impinge on the second rearmost continuous shoulder on the Nikon lens otherwise the screw will not turn down into the lug channel but will hang up on the shoulder. The screw is not intended to bind in compression onto the lens but simply to stop the lugs from rotating back and releasing the lens during focus movements.
It is not recommended to attempt this mod with screws any larger than 1/8" electrical. Smaller is better. If screws tend to come loose, do not overtighten but cut down a ballpoint pens spring and slip it around the screw between the head and outer circumference of the mount to act as a friction lock.

Test 2 - HV20 24p - Letus35 Mini - footage - Film School
This are Canon HV20 footage at 24p and whit the Lentus35 Mini and a Tamron 28-80 MM f/3.5 in a Cavison Rood Support. This video is brought to you by: http://www.cinemacuteo.com, se the HD version in http://www.vimeo.com/461891
"A Depth-of-field adapter or DOF adapter is used in conjunction with digital video camcorders to achieve optical film-like shallow depth of field with manual- or auto-focus lenses on a camera whose sensor size is not adequate enough to achieve it natively. A DOF adapter could theoretically be used on a multitude of platforms, although it is most useful on prosumer cameras where high resolution is a capability but the sensor size is still small enough to elicit use of the adapter. The name 35mm adapter is perhaps more common, since the current designs use a focusing screen the size of 35mm film, but will not be used here since it is theoretically possible to create an adapter of a different size, such as medium format.
Possibly one of the most impressive characteristics of a DOF adapter is its apparent simplicity. Since most digital camcorders available today have CCD receptors that are too small to facilitate professional depth of field (an XL2 has three chips just 1/3" in size each), a DOF adapter looks to take the place of the camera's CCD and use a larger focusing plate (in many cases, 35mm) to capture an image. Since this image is focused onto a translucent screen (similar to how one would look at a focused image through a system camera's viewfinder), the camcorder is able to frame this intermediate screen and record it. The principle of one of these adapters is similar to pointing a video camera at a movie screen. The lens attached to the adapter now takes the job of the camcorder's focusing and aperture mechanisms, as the camcorder's only responsibility at this point is to record what is being projected onto the focusing screen (called backfocus)."

My windowsill // HG10 + Letus35 Mini + EF 100mm f/2.8 macro
Weather today was sunny mixed with high winds and bursts of rain, so I stayed in just to be on the safe side :)
I wanted to spend time with my toys, though, so I just filmed out my window... I'll be moving to a bigger space soon, so the views should change in a couple months time :)
