Антонио Милошоски, Бугарин - Antonio Milososki, a Bulgarian
The Content: This video presents the indirect, but unequivocal recognition of the Bulgarian characters of the Slavs of FYROM by Mr. Antonio Milososki, its current Minister for Foreign Affairs, via two articles in the local daily newspaper "Utrinski vesnik" ("Утрински весник") from 2006, when he did not have a political office: 1.An article in which he claims that the s.c. "Macedonian Patriotic Organization" -- MPO , an ardent Bulgarian nationalistic--conservative organization operating for decades chiefly in USA and Canada , is the true keeper of the authentic identity of his people, preserved by emigrants from Geographical Macedonia, most of them emigrating before WW II. 2.An article in which he acknowledges a wrongdoing by the Communist regime in case of its political opponents, listing people of which some are known for their opposition to the system on the basis of their Bulgarian nationalism, and their cause as just. Brief montage of the facsimiles of the original articles are given, together with evidence from the official site of the MPO which indicates that this organizations considers the Slavs of FYROM as ethnic Bulgarians ( Българи ), in present and historical sense as its giuding idea and official policy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Government of the FYROM -- Влада БЈРМ [2007] Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia -- FYROM FA of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Friends of Europe: Balkan Balance Sheet - Antonio Milososki
http://www.friendsofeurope.org http://www.eu4journalists.eu Reverberations from the Irish "no" did not dampen enthusiasm for recent positive developments in the Balkans region. This was one of the outcomes of Friends of Europe's ninth annual Balkans summit, "A Balkans Balance Sheet", held in Brussels on 24 June. The summit brought together over 300 politicians, policymakers and pundits, as well as representatives from international organisations, civil society and the private sector. Participants discussed the health of the EU's Balkan enlargement strategy and whether the EU is exerting a calming influence on Balkan politics. During the afternoon an economic roundtable debated the strength of the entrepreneurial culture in the region and the pace of economic development. The roundtable pooled the expertise of over 40 experts from across the EU and the Balkans region, including Martin Bartenstein, Austria's Economy Minister, Milo Djukanovic, Montenegro's Prime Minister, and Hido Biscevic, Secretary General of the Sarajevo-based Regional Cooperation Council. Over the last six months the region has seen some recent positive developments, including the launch of the Regional Cooperation Council in February 2008 and the signing of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with Bosnia-Herzegovina on 16 June, which paved the way for fully-fledged EU membership for the country. Yet bilateral and multilateral tensions across the region remain -- particularly over an independent Kosovo -- but several participants pointed to the positive development of Serbia's new government, which they expect to be more pro-EU. Despite rumblings from the incoming EU French Presidency that in the wake of the Irish vote "difficulty will begin when the 28th member state knocks at the door", representatives from both international and EU institutions remained positive about the region's eventual integration into the regional bloc. An upbeat EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn assured countries of the Western Balkans that while the EU is considering how to pursue institutional reform, the European Commission is "working in parallel on the accession process" and that the enlargement process remains "on track".

Macedonia? FYROM? EU seeks an answer
If the music sounds exotic, maybe so does the name of the country: Macedonia. The Former Yugoslav Republic has had formal candidacy status for the European Union since 2005 but its negotiations to join have not yet begun. Before it may become a member of the bloc it must settle its quarrel with neighbour Greece. Seventeen years after becoming independent, this country of two million people is still fighting to have the name emblazoned in its constitution universally recognised. Athens won't have it, because the Greeks have a region using the same name. Macedonia's Slavic people are also standing firm - about what they call themselves. Speaking are: 0:48 Vox pop (Macedonian), in Macedonian 1:25 Antonio MILOSOSKI, Foreign Affairs Minister of FYROM, in English 2:06 Jovan DONEV, historian, professor of international relations, in English 3:02 Vox pop (Greek), in English 3:53 Panogiotis PSOMIADIS, prefect of Thessaloniki, in Greek 4:36 MEP Erik MEIJER (GUE/NGL, NL), in English 5:20 MEP Erik MEIJER (GUE/NGL, NL), in English 5:49 Antonios TRAKATELLIS (PPE-DE, EL), in English 6:26 Borjan JOVANOVSKI, journalist, in French 7:23 Panos JOANIDIS, journalist for "Makedonia", in French This programme was made available to broadcasters by the European Parliament.
