Vlaams parlementslid Marie-Rose Morel (Vlaams Belang) maakte zich op het spreekgestoelte van het Vlaams parlement opmerkelijk boos toen ze de discriminatie van Vlaams Belangers bij werknemers aankloeg. Vlaams minister Kathleen Van Brempt (sp.a) had het over 'hysterie' en ook haar collega Marino Keulen (Open Vld) merkte op dat Morel "wel vlug kwaad wordt".

Mary Gail Morel
Mary Morel passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Rosedale Hospice on a beautiful snowy night in Calgary. She fought a courageous battle against cancer not once losing hope or her sense of humour. Mary was born on June 23, 1958 in Calgary, the third of five children to Joyce Doreen (nee Leather) and Jack Davis McDonald. Mary is survived by her loving husband Daryl, her two treasured sons Shane and Kris. Mary leaves her beloved father Jack (Lorna) and four well-loved siblings Brian (Susan), Barb (Lorne), Ian (Patty) and Nancy (Mahidhara), and sister-in-law Brenda (Paul), her nine dear nieces and nephews, Christine and Bill McDonald, Brandy (Rob), Jon (Michelle) and Jesse Newman, Michael and Sara (Detlef) McDonald as well as Rebecca and Samantha. She also leaves her five beloved great-nieces Jenna and Ella Newman, Madison McDonald, Keely Lehman and great-nephew Jacob Kaczanowski. Mary was predeceased by her mother in 1973 as well as her mother-in-law Betty. Mary began her long retail career with Sears in the catalogue department at the Calgary North Hill store at the age of 17 and returned there 31 years later as the Store Manager. Mary met many dear friends and colleagues at Sears over the years and they miss her. Mary carried a card in her wallet with the following Maya Angelou quote, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." It was how she lived her life.
