In Frankfurt he starred in Madama Butterfly, Faust and Die Frau Ohne SchattenNo stranger to the Italian lyric stage, he sang Tristan and Isolde (Act 2) in concert in Rome, Manon Lescaut in Bologna, and Carmen in Genoa. The Italian premiere of Ägyptische Helena in Cagliari found him starring as Menelas, later released as a CD by Dynamic.
Other highlights include Il Trovatore at the Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires, Turandot in Mexico City's historic Bellas Artes, Don Carlo, Carmen and Turandot in Houston, Norma in Miami, and the world premiere of Salammbo at the Paris Opera.He starred as Radames in Aida at the Pyramids of Egypt, a role he also sang for the opening night of the season at Houston Grand Opera.He sang Lancelot in Le Roi Arthus in Montpellier, the French scenic premiere of the piece, followed by a successful role debut there as Samson in Samson and Delilah. At the Welsh National Opera, he sang Parsifal, Madama Butterfly and Tosca. Robert Wilson's staging of The Ring of the Nibelungs in Zürich featured him in the title role of Siegfried, a role he also sang with the English National Opera.
