Gadar Part 10
Gadar: A true patriotic Indian movie.
In 1947, Tara, a Sikh truck driver in Punjab,India meets and falls in love with a wealthy Muslim girl named Sakina.
Love in the time of Partition is the theme of Anil Sharma-directed "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha". The film, produced by Nitin Keni (of Zee Films), flips back the dark pages of our history (partition) and, against its backdrop, delineates the story of two lovers and their struggle to stay together.
In a nutshell, "Gadar" is a film with a patriotic theme woven around a touching love story. Uttam Singh's music and Anand Bakshi's lyrics have an earthy feel that gels well with the film's theme.

9/11 Coincidences (Part Ten)
9/11 Coincidences (Part Ten)
----------------------------
The 9/11 Commission: See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil!
----------------------------
This is the 2nd cut of this video, the original has now been removed.
The 9/11 Commission was created only after 14 months of pressure from September 11 victims' families, who for their efforts at first got the failed nomination by George Bush of Henry Kissinger as chairman. He declined, but the Commission consisted of appointees with obvious conflicts of interest, and was seriously underfunded ($14 million as opposed to the $67 million devoted to investigating Clinton's stray member or $30 million for the space shuttle disaster). Its work was met with resistance from the White House. Bush met with the Commission only on the condition that he be questioned in the Oval Office, jointly with Cheney, and off the record.
The 9/11 Commission Report was noteworthy in the fact that it didn't blame anyone for 9/11. Not one person has lost his job because 9/11 happened; even though high-ranking witness after high-ranking witness to the Commission described blunders and missed opportunities leading up the attacks. Why did the Commission do that? Many of the 9/11 widows are unhappy with the findings and many people have called it a whitewash.
The 9/11 Commission was a blatant whitewash, it failed to seriously examine virtually every fact supporting complicity of the US administration. It ignored the PNAC document, the links between the CIA and Bin Laden, the links between the Bush family and Bin Laden, the links beween the CIA and Mohammed Atta, the terror drill exercises that were taking place in the week of 9/11, the collapse of building 7, the molten steel found under the rubble of towers 1, 2 and 7, the evidence of the use of thermite and sulfur, the witness reports of repeated explosions throughout the towers, the lack of flying skills previously displayed by the alleged hijackers, Silverstein's $7 billion insurance payout, the insider trading before 9/11, the mysterious powerdowns and evacuations at the WTC prior to 9/11, and the fact that the Bin Laden family were allowed to leave the US just after 9/11 while every US citizen was grounded. The list just goes on and on and on.
It is up to us, the people, to get some answers. Please write to your congressman to demand a proper INDEPENDENT investigation into 9/11.

Hair Part 10
hair! :)
------------
How can people be so heartless
How can people be so cruel
Easy to be hard
Easy to be cold
How can people have no feelings
You know Im hung up on you
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no
And especially people
Who care about strangers
Who care about evil
And social injustice
Do you only
Care about the bleeding crowd?
How about a needing friend?
I need a friend
How can people be so heartless
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to give in
Easy to help out
And especially people
Who care about strangers
Who say they care about social injustice
Do you only
Care about the bleeding crowd
How about a needing friend?
I need a friend
How can people have no feelings
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to be hard
Easy to be cold
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no

Oedipus The King -- Part 10/12
Part of "Oedipus the King" from 1984 TV production with Michael Pennington, Claire Bloom and John Shrapnel. Translated and directed by the late
Don Taylor.

from John O'Connor's review in New York Times (1988):
Mr. Marks [producer] has explained: ''What we wanted was to find a way for authentic Sophocles to speak directly to viewers in such a way that the two and a half millennia dividing us would melt away. They should be able to see into his mind as he uncannily still seems to see into ours.''
Rather than attempting authentic recreations with masks and so forth, this series aims for an ''indeterminate feel'' in setting and costuming. David Myercough-Jones has designed a spare, misty arena outside the gates to the king's palace. June Hudson's costumes are plucked from different historical periods, elegant empire gowns for Jocasta, barrister robes for the chorus, a white silk suit for Oedipus.
The concept works. ''Oedipus the King,'' unfolding like some eternal mystery, is powerful. Its characters are archetypes embedded in our psyches, filling us with wonder even as we shudder. And the cast is about as good as you'll get nowadays.
..... Television, it seems, is offering the best theater in town at the moment.
