Tornado In Pensacola, FL
A tornado touched down on Thursday, October 18th at 10 AM. There was a tornado warning as we went to work, did not expect it to touch down right by our office!
The tornado overturned cars, ripped a roof off of a home and took out transformers. Many streets are closed in our area.
Excuse the 'commentary', we were a bit excited to see a tornado downtown, most of us had never seen one.

Hurricane Ivan - Pensacola, Florida - September 16, 2004
Hurricane Ivan was a classic, long-lived Cape Verde hurricane that reached Category 5 strength three times during its lifespan. Ivan caused tremendous damage as it crossed Grenada, the Cayman Islands and made landfall near the Alabama/Florida border. Maximum sustained winds at landfall in the U.S. are estimated at 120mph with gusts to 140mph, Category Three intensity. At landfall, the storm's minimum central pressure was 946mb (27.94in). This video also includes some behind-the-scenes footage from the National Hurricane Center including clips of my good friends and hurricane forecasters, Lixion Avila, Jack Beven, Max Mayfield (the center's director at that time)... as well as another good friend, Monroe County ex-Civil Defense Director Billy Wagner. Also in the background is Florida Governor, Charlie Crist.

Pensacola Beach Hurrican IKE on September 11th, 2008. What happening in a manner of (2) minutes was totally unexpected. Thanks Escambia County Sherriff's Department, and sorry for the loss of the Quad. They more than likely weren't going to make it out past the inside break. The surf was absolutely giant. 24+ was reported to be coming in off the bouy readings. Heard around that the only people catchin any waves on the panhandle were down at Amazonz in Panama City. These guys are headin there tomorrow. Have Fun.
