Armando explains how everyone always asks him..
"Who was the guy that played more conga than anybody?"
He says they believe it is him or Giovanni and he says
"NO! This was Afrokan.. Pello El Afrokan"
He goes on to say, Pello is the one that played 4 or more drums before anyone else and that he was a cousin of Mongo Santamaria.
Pedro Izquierdo "Pello El Afrokan" was also credited as the creator of the Mozambique rhythm.
