Buenos Aires, 29 Oct. - The Argentinean first lady has become the new president of the country. Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner won Sunday's presidential elections, and will therefore be taking the place of her husband at the Casa Rosada for the next four years (until 2011). Argentineans have opted in favour of the continuity of the model set in place by President Nestor Kirchner, voting overwhelmingly for the first lady, who will be the second female president in the history of the country and the first chosen by the populace (on 1 July 1974, Isabelita, third wife of 3-time president Juan Domingo Peron, took on the presidency automatically after the death of her husband).

Santa Evita - Macabre odyssey of Eva Peron embalmed body.
This collection of pictures ilustrates history presented by Tomas Eloy Martinez in his book "Santa Evita". Eva Peron embalmed body become sort of peronist relic, making her even more powerful after her death.
NOTE: Presentation is strictly made as a historical material. Showing any disrespect to former First Lady of Argentina, her relatives and followers was not intended.

Eva Evita Duarte BEFORE she became Eva Peron in "La Prodiga"
Another scene featuring Eva "Evita" Duarte in her last feature film titled "La Prodiga" ("The Prodigal") filmed in 1945 and released in Argentina 3 decades after Evita's death. The director of this film supposedly gave the only copy of the film to Evita who at the time had become Argentina's First Lady & she kept it at her residence until she died in 1952. After the fall of Peronism, the film was thought to have been lost or destroyed but a copy surfaced decades later and finally screened in Argentina in the mid 80's.
Those who are familiar with Evita's story know the striking similarities that the films lead character has with that of Eva Peron.
"La Prodiga" is about Julia Montes (Evita), an older woman with a scandalous past. In the film it is hinted that she may have had several lovers & that she posed for several European painters. She later redeems herself by returning to her small town in Spain & dedicating her life to helping the poor people of her village which results in the poor villagers adoring her & viewing her as a sacred woman. One of the villagers makes reference to her as "Hermana de los Tristes" ("Sister of the Sad") and "Madre de los Pobres" ("Mother of the Poor"), compare these names to the many given to Eva Peron by her Descamisados.
This film is very rare and the cut that survives appears to be heavily edited but whatever one thinks of Evita's acting talents, her splendid beauty really stands out in this film.
Again sorry for the bad quality but it's still worth viewing by Eva Peron admirers/scholars.

Eva Evita Peron: A Life in Pictures
The hair, the clothes, the smile.
Here is another video showing Eva's ever changing style.
Considering Eva Peron's extensive photographic history, I am surprised to find the same pictures used over and over again in websites and documentaries. Eva Peron was one of the most photographed woman in the world yet you would never know this considering the lack of different images of Eva Peron. I try to use photos that are not that common, to show different aspects of Eva's personality and beauty. And like my previous videos, I show her at her most beautiful. So pictures of Eva Peron weighing 80 pounds being consumed by cancer have no place in my videos. At least not the ones devoted to her glamour, youth and charisma.

Evita Vive - Eva Evita Peron
NOTE: I recommend watching this video in High Quality for a slightly better view.
Let's see. Many have tried to portray her. Some more successful than others. There's Madonna, Faye Dunaway, Esther Goris, Christiane Krüger, Patti Lupone.... but for me, and several other millions out there, there's nothing quite like the real thing.
This video is obviously made for Evita Peron's fans/admirers but considering she is still a controversial political figure, I ask that you keep the discussions civil. Anything remotely offensive or vulgar will be deleted. Cheers.
