Regional perspectives
The International Federation is running or supporting programmes in more than 150 countries. These programmes assist millions of the world's most vulnerable people; victims of natural and man-made disasters, refugees and displaced people and those hit by socio-economic problems.
The International Federation's programmes are grouped into four main core areas: promoting humanitarian principles and values; disaster response; disaster preparedness; and health and care in the community.

Perspectives régionales
La Fédération internationale, à travers les programmes qu'elle conduit ou soutient dans plus de 150 pays, vient en aide à des millions de personnes parmi les plus vulnérables de la planète: victimes de catastrophes naturelles ou dues à l'action de l'homme; réfugiés et personnes déplacées; populations touchées par des problèmes socioéconomiques. Les programmes sont axés sur quatre domaines essentiels: l'intervention en cas de catastrophe, la préparation aux catastrophes, la santé et l'assistance aux personnes au niveau communautaire, et la promotion des valeurs humanitaires.
Les programmes sont menés en coopération avec la Société de la Croix-Rouge ou du Croissant-Rouge du pays concerné. Les activités s'inscrivent dans le cadre défini par les stratégies d'assistance par pays ou par région et intègrent un volet de développement des capacités visant à renforcer les Sociétés nationales. Tous les programmes s'articulent autour de la Stratégie 2010, qui guidera l'action de la Fédération de 2000 à 2010. Huit programmes mondiaux visent à promouvoir dans chaque région du monde les priorités définies pour l'ensemble de l'organisation.
Tous les programmes sont financés par les appels que lance la Fédération. Un appel annuel est lancé chaque année pour répondre aux besoins déjà identifiés, et des appels d'urgence sont émis en cours d'année pour faire face aux catastrophes soudaines. Des rapports sont produits pour faire le point sur l'avancement des programmes figurant dans l'appel annuel ou sur les opérations prévues dans les appels d'urgence.

Perspectivas regionales
La Federación Internacional realiza o apoya programas en más de 150 paÃses, con lo que presta ayuda a millones de personas que se encuentran entre las más vulnerables del mundo (vÃctimas de desastres naturales o causados por el hombre, refugiados y personas desplazadas, asà como personas afectadas por problemas socioeconómicos). Los programas se centran en cuatro áreas esenciales: intervención en casos de desastre, preparación para desastres, salud y asistencia en la comunidad y promoción de los valores humanitarios.
Los programas se llevan a cabo en cooperación con la Sociedad de la Cruz Roja o de la Media Luna Roja de cada paÃs. Las actividades se guÃan por estrategias de cooperación del paÃs o región respectivo e incluyen un componente de fortalecimiento de la capacidad de la Sociedad Nacional. Todos los programas tienen en cuenta la Estrategia 2010 de la Federación. Además, hay ocho programas mundiales cuyo objeto es promover prioridades comunes al conjunto de la organización en todas las regiones.
Para financiar los programas, la Federación lanza llamamientos. Cada año, se elabora un llamamiento anual destinado a financiar las necesidades conocidas y, cuando sobrevienen desastres, se lanzan llamamientos de emergencia. El método para informar sobre los programas consiste en difundir información de última hora sobre los programas y las operaciones (los antiguos informes de situación).

Inspired by the recently rediscovered Glen Denny photographs of sixties climbers that we featured in our Patagonia Spring 2007 catalog, we went to Yosemite to see what climbers in the Valley are up to today. The Silent Epidemic: Perspectives of High School Dropouts
Along with Karen Burke Morison and John J. DiIulio Jr., John M. Bridgeland studied the 3.5 million Americans between the ages of 16 and 25 who have dropped out of school without a high school diploma. His report, commissioned by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, uses new data collected by Peter D. Hart Research Associates to conclude that this is a solvable problem. Bridgeland, who has served as Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council and USA Freedom Corps, is currently President and CEO of Civic Enterprises.
