Vintage XXX Sex Porn Film Perversion For Profit
Perversion for Profit is a 1965 propaganda film financed by Charles Keating and narrated by George Putnam. A vehement diatribe against pornography, the film attempts to link explicit portrayals of human sexuality to the subversion of American civilization, and briefly draws a parallel between pornography and the Communist conspiracy. The film is in the public domain, and it has become a popular download from the Prelinger Archives. Perversion for Profit illustrates its claims with still images taken from various soft core pornography magazines of the period, though with some portions of human anatomy obscured by colored rectangles.
To bolster his position, Putnam makes several references to "Dr. Sorokin, the renowned Harvard sociologist". This individual is Pitirim Sorokin, a Russian-American who founded Harvard's Sociology department and served as the American Sociological Association's 55th president.
In an article discussing the Prelinger Archives for the San Francisco Chronicle, Peter L. Stein observes that the film has gained a different sort of utility than its producers intended:
...as the parade of girlie magazine covers, men's physique pictorials and campy S&M leaflets continues, the film betrays a kind of prurience the filmmakers could hardly have intended. What results is a remarkable visual record of midcentury underground literature and sexual appetites, and a gloss on the values of the society that condemned them.
At the time the Chronicle article was written, Perversion was the Archive's second most popular download, superseded only by Duck and Cover. Ephemeral film scholar Rick Prelinger, founder of the Archive, views the popularity of such films as a sign the "unofficial evidence of everyday life" has become more interesting than "'official' documents from Washington or New York".
In 2004, a Prelinger Archive user going by the pseudonym "Trafalgar" produced a remix, in which short clips from the film are rearranged to make a pro-pornography advocacy video. Trafalgar's remix, entitled Come Join the Fun!, is available from the Internet Archive's open-source movie collection. The electronica band 3kStatic sampled audio from the original Perversion film for the title track of their 2005 album Perversion: for Profit.

Perversion for Profit -- Commentary on Pornography
This is a "public domain" video created decades ago. It appears that it is attempting to be a news documentary. In today's terms I would equate it with a low budget info commercial that is against soft pornography. It is both a funny and disturbing video.
The narrator refers to those with alternative lifestyles, newsstand obscenities, and their influences on society. Since he is referred to as an "outstanding news reporter," I will assume that this is his commentary on the above mentioned issues and much more.
He is afraid that generations of youth are being perverted because of the monetary greed of businessmen. In his own words, he gives us opinions on "homosexuals, lesbians, sadists, masochist, and other sex deviants." He discusses "unnatural sex acts."
According to him, one would believe that virtually everyone blames the "moral decay" of society on pornography. Somehow it weakens our resistance to communism? (Maybe I misunderstood.) He warns that some of the pornographic magazines include themes of sodomy and bestiality. It might even make you a lesbian. He is concerned about the today's youth. He says ".... these abnormalities are corrupting the minds and hearts of our children."
The best line is "...they lack the moral standards and values of our Judo-Christian heritage." Wow, this shit is unbelievable. He speaks of "Girlie" and "Physique" magazines. Also, he has not spared cross-dressers, transvestites, and masochists. Imagine the same kind of documentary today. The internet would give the producers of the movie an ocean of material to complain about.
I could go on forever ... and ever about the insanity of this video.
I can't blame this guy too much. For his time, this video probably wasn't too shocking. He geniually seems to have kids' best interest at heart. I know that when I was a preteen and early teenager I probably had seen a couple of hundred pornographic magazines and several porno movies. I don't believe this made me a deviant; however, I should have waited a few years before I started looking at porn.
