San PÃo de Pietrelcina
El Padre PÃo de Pietrelcina fue un hombre elegido por Cristo para llevar los padecimientos de la crucifixión en su cuerpo, durante 50 años de su vida. Las llagas en sus manos, en sus pies, y en el costado de su pecho eran permanentes, sangraban y no cicatrizaban, no supuraban, ni coagulaban. Durante su vida recibió el don de la bilocación, que es la posibilidad milagrosa de estar en dos sitios a la vez; el don de lenguas, por el cual podÃa darse a entender en diferentes idiomas, aunque nunca los hubiera aprendido; podÃa ver el corazón de los fieles, sus pecados y su arrepentimientos; curar enfermos. Amó incansablemente hasta las últimas consecuencias a Cristo y a sus "hijos espirituales".

En el orden de la caridad social se comprometió en aliviar los dolores y las miserias de tantas familias, especialmente con la fundación de la «Casa del Alivio del Sufrimiento», inaugurada el 5 de mayo de 1956. Estuvo dedicado asiduamente a la oración. Pasaba el dÃa y gran parte de la noche en coloquio con Dios. DecÃa: «En los libros buscamos a Dios, en la oración lo encontramos. La oración es la llave que abre el corazón de Dios». La fe lo llevó siempre a la aceptación de la voluntad misteriosa de Dios.
Estuvo siempre inmerso en las realidades sobrenaturales. No era solamente el hombre de la esperanza y de la confianza total en Dios, sino que infundÃa, con las palabras y el ejemplo, estas virtudes en todos aquellos que se le acercaban.
El amor de Dios le llenaba totalmente, colmando todas sus esperanzas: amar a Dios y hacerlo amar. Su preocupación particular: crecer y hacer crecer en la caridad.

Padre Pio - St. Pio of Pietrelcina - Italian Catholic Priest - Stigmatist who for 50 years, lived with the pain and the glory of the stigmata, the five wounds of Our Lord, Jesus. As recently as 1968 Padre Pio died in a Franciscan Monastery in Southern Italy. For 50 years he bore the wounds of Christ's Passion. Thousands visited him every year when he was alive to be cured of their bodily and spiritual ills. Pope John Paul II visited the historic monastery where Padre Pio lived and died. This was the third time he had come to the remote village in southern Italy, San Giovanni Rotondo. On his first visit many years ago, His Holiness Pope John Paul II was just a simple priest and it was then that Padre Pio told him he would, one day, become Pope and that he would be covered in his own blood. Padre Pio had all spiritual gifts: healing, bilocation, powers of conversion, prophecy, languages etc.

Scientists claim that man is nothing but an accidental accumulation of odd material put together during a very brief fragment of time, doomed ultimately to disintegrate. The human body, they say, is composed of one octillion atoms, and three trillion of such atoms would form the period at the end of this sentence. They add that an atom is not actual material. If enlarged to one hundred meters in diameter, its contents would amount to waves moving with the speed of light, or faster, and the socalled material in such an extended atom would be no more than a pinhead.
Scientists do not tell us what man is. Jesus Christ does. And He tells us how to live. That our thoughts and deeds must follow the example He gave during His short Journey on earth. That as children of God we have been given eternal life through His death and resurrection.
Christ could have saved the octillion atoms found in His human form. He could have made a compromise with Satan. He could have retracted His teachings and denied His heritage before Pilate. He could have surrendered to the momentary doubts on the Cross and shown Himself to be another ordinary bewildered mortal. But Jesus chose to do otherwise. He accepted the Cross and left it as an example of Manhood.
There is no greater Love than the Cross. There is no greater Holy Day than the Resurrection.
