Even today in Gimes they customarily collect pine resin for the pine resin smoking [ritual] at Christmas. Herein, the boys demonstrate this to us. In Zoboralja (Zobor Region) they call the pine resin "tomjen."

How to make hash...

The active ingredient of Cannabis/Marijuana/weed/grass whatever you want to call it/ is Tetrahydrocannabinol, THC or "the fing wot gets you stoned, yeah!". Cannabis Resin is made by pressing together the THC Crystals and applying heat and lots of pressure... This video demonstrates a practical way in which you can produce a very pure, high quality hashish from the leftover THC crystals which accumulate at the bottom of your grinder. If you grow your own herb you take the waste leaf material generated when manicuring your buds and convert it in to good, smokeable hash. The benefits are numerous... Compared to commercial hash/soapbar/blow/squidgy/black is incredibly pure and as a result, very strong and skunky... Commercial hash you might be forced to buy on the street will generally contains less than 15% THC, often as little as 5%. So what's the other 95%?

Some ingredients of "soap bar" are: "henna, beeswax, boot polish, turpentine, ground coffee, milk powder, pine resin, barbiturates, Ketamine, aspirin, glue, dog shit, diesel, plastic carrier bags, aspirin, rock-wool, plant matter, soil, and pretty much anything else you could perceive of adding in order to add weight. More alarming is that samples in Scotland have recently been found to contain heroin and other toxic/addictive substances. . .
The message is clear... Grow your own, smoke your own, make your own hash, be happy!

PINE TAR - organic - natures best quality
Pine tar is a viscous blackish-brown liquid consisting of volatile terpene oils, neutral oils, resin acids and fatty acids. It's the combination of these substances that allows mediaeval wooden buildings that have been regularly treated with pine tar to still stand today. The proportion of these constituents varies in different tar qualities, depending on the type of wood, its age and the part of the tree used. Historically, resin-rich pine stumps have always been considered to give the best pine tar, as resin contains substances that protect the living tree from rot, insect infestation and so on. Since it has become harder to get hold of stumps, tree trunks and branches are now used to a greater extent.

CHINCHILLA PINE CONE WAR!
The boys Bill & Ben fighting over a pine cone...
There were four pine cones in the cage! LOL
WARNING about pinecones...
Cones do not only grow on pine trees. They also grow on other trees like cedar, cypress, yew, juniper, fir and spruce...all of these are on the unsafe wood list.
So if in doubt about the source tree, DON'T use them!
I personally buy them from a rabbit site here in the UK then boil and bake them. You also need to be sure the pinecones are fully open and without any seeds.
There is a debate as to whether pinecones are safe for chinchillas, some people say they are, some do not.
They say that the resin within them is toxic. This is true for all pine, which is why we use kiln dried pine for shelves and other toys. The kiln drying evaporates the sap and makes the wood safe.
Is this the same for the cones when we bake them?
I cannot say or be 100% sure if baking the cones makes them completely safe. My chins get them very occasionally, maybe once or twice a year. They tend to chew off all of the spikey bits, play tug of war LOL and then lose interest, I then throw them away. I have never had a problem.
