GUILD HALL Lifetime Achievement Awards (Part One)
Mel Brooks, Joe Pintauro, David Salle, and Robert F.X. Sillerman, will received awards for their work in Performing Arts, Literary Arts, Visual Arts and Leadership, and Philanthropic Endeavors at The Guild Hall's 23rd Annual Lifetime Achievement Awards, which took place at The Rainbow Room, Monday March 3. Brooks is currently represented on Broadway by Young Frankenstein. The 2001 production of his musical The Producers won 12 Tonys, the most of any production in the award's history. Pintauro's many plays include Cacciatore, Moving Targets, and The Dead Boy. Angela LaGreca was the master of ceremonies. Guild Hall's Academy of the Arts was formed in 1985 as the first center in the United States to provide a museum, theater and community meeting place under one roof. Since 1931, Guild Hall has engaged the community in cultural events that embrace all the arts and has been a home to the artistic community. The membership has grown to over 200, a truly incredible assemblage of internationally recognized artists emanating from a relatively small community. Award recipients have been selected by ballot by the entire Academy membership. Among the lifetime honorees are Ben Bradlee, Alec Baldwin, April Gornik, Stephen Spielberg, Betty Freidan, Billy Joel, Lauren Bacall, Paul Simon, Wendy Wasserstein and many others in the fields of visual arts, literary arts and performing arts. Guild Hall, located in East Hampton, NY, is the first center in the United States to provide a museum, theater and community meeting place under one roof.
