Plaque Assay (for Bacteriophages)
The steps in determination of amount of virus by agar suspension plaque assay. This virus is a kind of bacteriophages. Its host cell is a bacterium.
The plaque is the area (spot) in which one viral particle has initially infected a cell (here, a bacterium) and has replicated itself in the cell producing new viruses. The cell is usually lysed upon the release of these newly produced viruses. The new phages go nowhere, but infect the nearby bacteria. Through many rounds of this life cycle, the spot grows big enough to be seen by naked eyes. (In the video, it looks like a hole in the agar) This spot, therefore, represents one virus at the start of the experiment. By counting the plaque number, the amount of virus in original sample can be calculated.
(Note: The remarkable studies of bacteriophage growth were originally pioneered by Ellis and Delbruck 69 years ago.)

Live at Leeds 2 The Plaque
On June 17th 2006 Pete and Roger unveil the Blue Plaque commemorating the LAL recording by The Who in 1970. I was able to board the Magic Bus to Leeds for the ceremony, and the later the concert (LAL2) which was AMAZING!!!

Incident at the Memorial Plaque of Mara Buneva in Skopje
The commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the death of Mara Buneva has turned into a scene of anti-Bulgarian activities in central Skopje. Hooligans, probably fans of Vardar FC, attacked the participants in the memorial service -- Bulgarians from Macedonia and representatives of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (VMRO). The attackers threw stones chanting "Bulgarians, tatars", Die, Bulgarians, it's Macedonia here". According to unconfirmed reports, the attack was organized still on Friday, when a Macedonian television channel, Sky Net TV, showed a program during which viewers sent SMS in support of stopping the "event of the Bulgarophils about Mara Buneva". Four or five people were injured in the attack. They got issued medical certificates at the hospital in Skopje. The Bulgarian embassy announced that they were specifying the details of the incident.

Robin Gibb Plaque
Gibb unveiled the plaque on the facade of the former home of the band's manager and producer Robert Stigwood.
It was where the trio spent much of their time rehearsing and composing songs between 1968 and 1980.
Gibb said it was also where they first met actor John Travolta for the making of the film Saturday Night Fever.
At Saturday's unveiling Gibb said: "It's very special and more so because of losing Maurice in 2003 my twin brother.
