200 Settlers Illegally Seize Bil'in Land -Matityahu Mizrah

Last night 200 Israeli settler families illegally took over the incompleted settlement Matityahu Mizrah, within the larger settlement of Modi'in Ilite. The Israeli High Court will decide the legality of the construction of Matityahu Mizrah, built on 60% of Bil'in's land. In December 2005, Bil'in villagers constructed a small house overnight in the settlement construction area causing the project to come to a hault, forcing the issue to be settled in the court. The Israeli Defense Forces stood by as settler families moved in. Five activists, five villagers and one journalist from Bil'in, documenting the event. The settlers tried to beat some of the seven journalists and activists who witnessed the takeover.
