For decades, Texaco carved its way through the Amazon Rainforest in pursuit of oil. Now the development of these oil fields is being blamed for poisoning the indigenous people.
The Amazon rainforest used to be one of the purest environments on earth. But the discovery of oil and arrival of Texaco changed everything. "After Texaco came, people who bathed in the river and drank the water got cancer and died," laments one local. Carcinogens from Texaco's toxic oil pits are believed to have leached into the water supply and poisoned the land. Cancer rates in the area have doubled. "Hundreds of men, women and children have died," laments Luis Yanza from the Amazon Defence Front. He's launched a legal challenge to force Texaco to clean up the land. "This case sends a powerful message to oil companies all over the world," explains lawyer Steve Donziger. But Texaco is vigorously fighting the case. It refutes all allegations of wrongdoing and claims the pits pose no health risk. "The records will show that we are good corporate citizens and we will prevail in the end," proclaims Ricardo Reis Veiga, Texaco's chief council. But for some of the poisoned locals, any verdict will come to late. As one victim laments: "Everything is ruined. All my organs are finished. Now there's nothing."

Thanks to news anchor, Mary Morrison, for investigating. She had the courage after seeing much documentation & speaking to many doctors, to share this tragedy, in an effort to help educate the public. We need more media to interview mold victims.
WJBF aired another story behind this one of more local victims of this highly misunderstood and devastating illness. It's good other stories were shared. That's what it's all about..helping each other..
We recently held a Mold seminar in Ga. From all the calls we received, we knew there had to be more people right here in our own town sick from mold. Over 80 people attended and listened to the serious health effects. Dr. Andrew Campbell freely devoted his time to come form Tx. to speak to residents of Ga. What a blessing to have a dr. this dedicated to the mold issue. I'd say over half of the attendees were sick from mold.
We are hoping to start Mold support group and educational meetings. If you're interested in being involved in this let us know. We're in Augusta, Ga. area.
We are here to talk and help any the best we can while dealing with our own illness. You're not alone. We may only be able to provide moral support, prayers and mold information..but hopefully, it will make a difference.
