Terje Rypdal: Symphony no. 2, 4th Movement
The 4th movement of Terje Rypdal`s Symphony no. 2 "The New Era" (1977). Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Per Dreyer cond. With the band from "Waves"; Palle Mikkelborg, Håkon Graf, Sveinung Hovensjø and Jon Christensen. In addition, Iver Kleive on organ. Aired on NRK Radio in 1978. This mix of jazzrock and symphony orchestra is based on the tune "The Dain Curse" from the ECM album "Waves" (1977). Rypdal was nominated for the very prestigious Nordic Council Music Award in 1978 for this symphony. It was planned for an ECM release, but it never happened. Photos taken on 11 of august, 2007, while climbing through the fog and finally reaching the summit of Innerdalstårnet, Trollheimen, Norway. By Lasse Postmyr.
