Live Performance clips coming soon.
Lyrics:
Only 23 and I think I seen it all
Gone through life and I always seem to fall
Cuz my pants is saggy and I pop my collar
Did what I did son, just to cop a dollar
Felt the wind blow cuz I be chasin' paper
Was in the business of "get paid then see ya later"
I did everything, I ain't no liar
Sling rocks like david did goliath
2 minutes time with the help of a knife
Went from king of the rhymes to the victim of crime
Now I'm laying down knifed up, sliced up
Was all the money worth giving my life up?
Got all these questions to ask to you, God
Just pass 'em along if you think they're too hard
Why's this heavy load of weight on my shoulders?
These tests make my soul and faith grow colder
Why can't me and mama get along?
Why do I always feel like I don't belong?
Why did you give my dad cancer?
Why don't you answer? Please do what you can, sir!
Spilled my guts for bling that just rust and
What's it all worth when my body turns to dust?
What's it all worth when my body turns to dust?
What's it all worth when my body turns to dust?
What's it all worth when my body turns to......dust?
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust
We confused by love and lust
Rush to fuss, bust guts and such
Grown-ups offended like I must've cussed
I ain't complainin' I just lookin' for an outlet
God's in my heart, right straight from the outset
I feel im God-sent, just that my path was hard bent
Now I'm hardened just like I was clark kent
I live my life for God -- I don't care who's starin'
Shout in your ear and hear the horns blarin'
Lyrics impairin', drop bombs like sadaam
This is the new Psalms; tell ya where I come from
This is the new Psalms; tell ya where I come from
Let me tell ya where I come from
This is the new Psalms; tell ya where I come from
This is the new Psalms; tell ya where I come from
Let me tell ya where I come from
Let me tell ya where I come from... from... from...
Manila born, but raised in Toronto
livin' now, still a child of tomorrow
like Biggie said, I grew up a screw up
ain't no playin', now i drink from a new cup
when i was younger, most definitely a nuisance
but things change, i been livin' ever new since
oh-one or oh-two
but i still kick it with my old crew
well, old school is old school
give it some time, come around like it's supposed to
had to learn all the good from the bad
that's what i'm given, had to do what i can
now i'm most likely reborn like spawn
this is the legend that i leave when i'm gone
so Word is bond, lemme bring it to the masses
hidden treasures, you can bring it in ya casket
when i blast it, open soul so you can catch it
journey is hard but reward is greater
but it ain't the dark side, darth vader
so let the saviour save ya
Lord, lead me away from danger
this is what i bring forth, i bring to
the philosophies i cling to
it's been cool, my people
this is the journey that i've been through
it's real simple, so simple
bring the candle to rekindle
when i'm singing the tune that i sing to
this is the tune that i sing to
this is the tune that i sing to
this is the tune that i sing to
this is the tune that i sing to
ashes to ashes and dust to dust
we confused by love and lust
rush to fuss, bust guts and such
grown-ups offended like i must've cussed
i ain't complainin' i just lookin' for an outlet
God's in my heart right straight from the out set
i feel i'm God-sent, just that my path was hard-bent
now i'm hardened just like i was clark kent
i live my life for God i don't care who's starin'
shout in your ear and hear the horns blarin'

The Music of the Bible Revealed - Psalms 19
Suzanne Haïk-Vantoura, LA MUSIQUE DE LA BIBLE RÉVÉLÉE - VOLUME 2 (Alienor 1050 CD), Track 8.
This slideshow of Psalms 19 includes the consonantal Hebrew Masoretic Text and modified versions of the transliteration and translation provided by Lev Software. The arrangement for the modern Celtic harp is of course SHV's, but the ancient melodic line, modality and choral alternation were inferred by her from the Masoretic Text (Letteris Edition).
This exquisite Psalm of David is an exemplar of David's compositional "style". It compares how God reveals Himself through the laws of the heavens with how He reveals Himself through the Law in the Hebrew Scriptures. It has always been one of my favorites in English, and I love it all the more now that I know its original Hebrew (melody and words alike).
In this video, I have coupled this Psalm's comparison with the heavenly signs (as stated or alluded to by the New Testament) that occurred on the Passover when Jesus of Nazareth was crucified. The slides track the Julian date of Wednesday, April 25, 31 CE from midnight to midnight, hour by hour. I have set the location to Jerusalem, and you will be able to see some stars and planets marked, as well as the darkness that covered the land from noon to mid-afternoon and the lunar eclipse that occurred high over Jerusalem on the following night. (The backgrounds were made using the Starry Night Enthusiast planetarium program for Windows.) I also use a video transition to point out a "melopoetic enjambment" in verse 5c (verse 4c in English).

NU Chorale & Symphonic Wind Ensemble | March 4, 2007 | pt2
Northwestern University Chorale and Symphonic Wind Ensemble's performance of Symphony of Psalms. The title of Igor Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms refers less to any specific classical form than to the original meaning of the word symphony - sounding together. Stravinsky wrote that his goal was "to create an organic whole without conforming to various models adopted by custom, but still retaining the periodic order by which the symphony is distinguished from the suite... a choral and instrumental ensemble in which the two elements should be on equal footing."

Psalms 121
1 A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
