Our Future is Our History: Child-Rearing and the Roots of Violence
Google Tech Talks March, 14 2008 ABSTRACT Adult self-identity forms with great personal sacrifice in the face of chronic violence routinely experienced in childhood via adult socialization practices. Through these practices children internalize the "power structures that shape our lives" which later stand between the individual and his or her own enlightened self-awareness. Joseph Zornado wanted to elaborate on what his talk Our Future is Our History (at noon) will be about. I've posted his letter at: http://www.corp.google.com/~klea/zornado-letter.html Speaker: J. Zornado J. Zornado teaches English at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI. He wrote two books about child-rearing and violence.

Holm & Laue - Automated calf rearing system
The HL100 is a superb automated calf rearing system with the capacity of up to 4 feeding stations; each station rearing up to approximately 38 calves giving a total capacity of up to approximately 150 calves. The system is built from modules, giving the user the opportunity to feed fresh milk or milk replacer with combinations of vitamins, additives in both powder and liquid form for individual calves or for the whole group. It is the perfect delivery mechanism for "The Queen of Calves Program'. So it's easy to choose the solution that best fits your current needs and simple to alter the program or upgrade the existing machines capabilities any time in the future. You can program variations of temperature, concentration, amount of liquid per day, ration quantity, time between visits and possible additives to the milk to suit your feeding requirements. Because each calf is identified by the ID number on the ear tag or collar transponder, you can accurately monitor every individual animal. It's very hygienic; when the calf has finished feeding, the tubes are automatically cleaned with a warm flush of water. The system is automatically drained, washed and sanitized, every half day. The HL100 Automated calf rearing system takes the hassle out of rearing for you and your calves. If you are considering automating your calf rearing operation then we can arrange for a specialist property installation assessment to tailor a system to your needs. Headjerking and rearing CRs to auditory and visual CSs
This video clip compares the CRs made by rats to 5-s auditory and visual CSs that have been paired with food pellet USs. The auditory CS is an 80 dB 3000 Hz tone and is shown as a blue musical note. The visual CS is the light on the wall of the Skinner box. Presentation of the food pellets is symbolized with a red dot. Note that the nature of the CR depends on the modality of the CS (see Holland, 1977). (1:11)

Rearing Problem: a Royal Pain in the Ass [Problem Cured]
EDIT: Heres me and Roy... The rearing has stopped http://shadowobsession.deviantart.com/art/Me-and-Royal-3-2-quot-93940049 Roy is doing SOOO much better now... I gave her the winter off and got on her this spring when my friends adn i wanted to go for a hack... problem is the we only had 3 broke horses (Nikie, Kaos and Royal) so yah i sucked it up and just thought "ah WTF... if she pops a rear then just ride it and keep going..." by the end of the day Roy and i had popped over a coupple 3" jumps.. (feels akward on her "rabbit hop" style jump... and shes always bumpy when she hasent been ridden for a while!) i was amazed!... She was the best on the hack to (considdering she hadent ben ridden for 4 months) Nik & Kay had a coupple spooktasticks at the neighbours house ^^ Sucessful sums it up^^ thanx to all who have offered advice^^ Sore back? Cracked Ribs? I dunno! Why does she rear!!! My mare Royal rears whenever you ride her! She rears with a saddle, without a saddle, with no tack at all!.... She rears when I lead! But all she wants to do it get back to her pasture buddies.... Why does she rear?! She wont rear when you just sit on her... If you nudge her with your lags or move out of 3 point posisition in any way its ^up to heaven^.... Yes... I admit I have tried smacking her in between the ears with a crop.... trust me.... it may work for all the people ive asked but Royal will just go right up if you do it..... Martingale?! No way! She just went up more than ever! Yes.... She tosses her head and then rears.... Your supposed to keep a horse that rears moving forward.... but thats impossible if you ride Royal! And sudgestive movement with your legs sends her up in the air.... and when she comes back down to earth she either bolts or backs up all the way to the pasture or gate if your in the riding ring..... she tosses her head left and right to rip the reins from your hands so she can turn to face her buddies and then its insane trying to get her to move anywhere!!!! Will somebody please help me?! Im dying here! o and another thing..... for any method that involves tying up your horse.... nuh uh NO WAY! Royal was never taught to tie.... The people who had her used to tie her up with bale twine and she would break it all the time so they would have to get carrots to catch her.... So she was basicly trained to break leadropes ok?
