ILLYRICUM SACRUM
Pope Clement XI (July 23, 1649 -- March 19, 1721), born Giovanni Francesco Albani, was Pope from 1700 until his death.
Albani was born in Urbino, into a noble family that had established itself there from northern Albania in the 15th century and were originally soldiers of Scanderbeg against the Ottoman Empire. During his reign as a Pope the famous "Illyricum Sacrum" was commissioned, and today it is one of the main sources of the field of Albanology with over 5000 pages divided in several volumes written by Dom. Farlati and Dom. Coletti.

Illyricum Sacrum është nje vepër enciklopedike me 5500 faqe, e ndare ne nente vellime. Ne te flitet për historine e ilireve, domethene për historine e shqiptareve qe kane jetuar ne faqen perendimore te Ballkanit, ku shtriheshin fiset ilire. Illyricum Sacrum permban gjithashtu harta, skica dhe ilustrime te shumta për te paret tane, te cilat nuk gjenden askund vec ne kete vepër te madhe. Sipas prof. Aleksander Stipcevic, vepra Illyricum Sacrum është nje arritje kapitale e historise evropiane. Ajo ka rendesi te dores se pare si burim te dhenash për historine mesjetare te Ballkanit Perendimor. Vellimi i pare ka dale ne vitin 1751, kurse i fundit ne vitin 1909. Shtate vellimet e para janë pergatitur nga Daniele Farlati, kurse dy vellimet e fundit nga Jakobo Coleti.

Me kete vepër Farlati behet nje nga personalitetet me te medha te ilirologjise. Ai është me i madhi, perfaqesuesi me dinjitoz qe njohim deri me sot. Nuk ka ilirolog tjeter qe mund te konkurroje me te për periudhen antike, deri ne Mesjete. Me dokumente dhe fakte ai argumenton prejardhjen tone shume e shume kohe para se te vinin sllavet ne Ballkan. Ai davarit mjegullat shekullore e sakteson kohen ilire, helene, romake dhe bizantine. Ai dhe vetem ai, paraqet themelet e nderlikuara mbi te cilat u ngrit shteti ilir dhe jeta e paraardhesve tane. Për te kryer studime te tilla nuk është e lehte. Duhet shume kohe, shume dije, dokumente e deshmi qe mund t'i gjesh pas nje hulumtimi te gjate e ne vende te ndryshme. Burimet e informacionit janë gati te paarritshme. Por edhe kur i gjen, nuk është e lehte t'i deshifrosh. Mendoni se c'pune kolosale i është dashur Farlatit për te ndertuar pa asnje te mete mozaikun e ilireve qe jetonin ne faqen perendimore te Ballkanit. Nese historiografise sone i heqim Farlatin, atehere prejardhja jone do te ishte e dyshimte, e manget, e cunguar. Te dhena për kete periudhe kane paraqitur edhe studiues te tjere, por roli dhe saktesia e Farlatit janë te padiskutueshme. Te gjithe ata qe duan te flasin për iliret dhe historine e shqiptareve, patjeter duhet te mbështëten e te citojne Daniele Farlatin. Ai është institucion. Ai perfaqeson banken me te madhe te te dhenave për Ilirine.
Sot për sot, ne Shqiperi gjenden tri vellime te Daniele Farlatit, nje vellim qe ndodhet ne AQSH, nje vellim ne Biblioteken Kombetare dhe nje vellim qe gjendet ne Shkoder. Vellimet e tjera nuk i kemi. Ato gjenden ne Vatikan, ne Venedik, ne Kroaci, ne Muzeun e Vjenes etj. Edhe ne keto vende, kopjet e Illyricum Sacrum janë te rralla. Me nje nisme te marre nga shtepia botuese ARBI ne Prishtine, ashtu sic u veprua me "Acta et Diplomata res Albanie mediae a etatis ilustrantia" te Shuflait, pritet te veprohet edhe me nente vellimet e Farlatit e Coletit për "Illyricum Sacrum". Për kete korpus qe i kalon te 5500 faqet do te ndihmoje Ministria e Kultures se Kroacise dhe Ministria e Kultures se Kosoves. Natyrisht, Ministria e Kultures se Unionit Serbi - Mali i Zi as qe mendohet te ndihmojje. Po keshtu, edhe Ministria e Kultures se Maqedonise pasi ne kete vepër flitet për Shkupin ilirik te banuar nga shqiptaret. Ndihme nuk mund te jape as Ministria e Kultures se Greqise, sepse ne Illyricum Sacrum flitet për nje te treten e Greqise te banuar nga iliro-shqiptaret.

Andrea Gabrieli was an Italian composer and organist of the late Renaissance. The uncle of the somewhat more famous Giovanni Gabrieli, he was the first internationally renowned member of the Venetian School of composers, and was extremely influential in spreading the Venetian style in Italy as well as in Germany.
He was probably a native of Venice, most likely the parish of S. Geremia. He may have been a pupil of Adrian Willaert at St. Mark's in Venice at an early age. There is some evidence that he may have spent some time in Verona in the early 1550s, due to a connection with Vincenzo Ruffo, who worked there as maestro di cappella -- Ruffo published one of Gabrieli's madrigals in 1554, and Gabrieli also wrote some music for a Veronese academy. Gabrieli is known to have been organist in Cannaregio between 1555 and 1557, at which time he competed unsuccessfully for the post of organist at St. Mark's.
In 1562 he went to Germany, where he visited Frankfurt am Main and Munich; while there he met and became friends with Orlande de Lassus, one of the most wide-ranging composers of the entire Renaissance, who wrote secular songs in French, Italian, and German, as well as abundant Latin sacred music. This musical relationship was immensely profitable for both composers: while Lassus certainly learned from the Venetian, Gabrieli took back to Venice numerous ideas he learned while visiting Lassus in Bavaria, and within a short time was composing in most of the current idioms, including one which Lassus entirely avoided: purely instrumental music.
In 1566 Gabrieli was chosen for the post of organist at St. Mark's, one of the most prestigious musical posts in northern Italy; he retained this position for the rest of his life. Around this time he acquired, and maintained, a reputation as one of the finest current composers. Working in the unique acoustical space of St. Mark's, he was able to develop his unique, grand ceremonial style, which was enormously influential in the development of the polychoral style and the concertato idiom, which partially defined the beginning of the Baroque era in music.
His duties at St. Mark's clearly included composition, for he wrote a great deal of music for ceremonial affairs, some of considerable historical interest. He provided the music for the festivities accompanying the celebration of the victory over the Turks in the Battle of Lepanto (1571); he also composed music for the visit of several princes from Japan (1586).
Late in his career he also became famous as a teacher. Prominent among his students were his nephew Giovanni Gabrieli; the music theorist Lodovico Zacconi; Hans Leo Hassler, who carried the concertato style to Germany; and many others.
The date and circumstances of his death were not known until the 1980s, when the register containing his death date was found. Dated August 30, 1585, it includes the notation that he was "about 52 years old"; his approximate birth date has been inferred from this. His position at St. Mark's was not filled until the end of 1586, and a large amount of his music was published posthumously in 1587.
