Water and sanitation: a partnership for change
This video shows the International Federation Global Water and Sanitation Initiative (GWSI) in action at the Zambia Red Cross Society "Rural Water Supply Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion Project"
In our world today:
• more than one billion people do not have access to clean water;
• over two billion people do not have adequate sanitation facilities;
• some four million people die each year from diseases associated with the lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene
• 4,000 children under five years old die every day from those same associated diseases.
Added to this, in times of disaster and crises, the urgency to meet basic water and sanitation needs saves lives, reduces diseases and restores dignity. The overall water and sanitation challenge is best expressed in the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), in particular goals 2, 3, 4 and 7, which have water and sanitation components. Our response is therefore to set our targets as a contribution to meeting those goals.
The Global Water and Sanitation Initiative (GWSI)
Over the last ten years, the International Federation has established and consolidated a water and sanitation vision, policy and capacity to better address two principle global challenges.
1. Acute water and sanitation challenges, mostly related to crises and disasters, where there is the urgency to provide basic needs to save lives, contain or reduce health threats and restore dignity.
2. Chronic water and sanitation challenges, mostly related to the fact that still a large proportion of the world's poor do not have access to adequate safe water and sanitation, causing death, disease and loss of productivity. Around four million people die every year as a result of poor water and sanitation access; many are children under five years of age.
The GWSI outlines a common approach among National Societies to establish larger-scale, longer-term sustainable water and sanitation programs to contribute more effectively in meeting the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
The GWSI, in combination with the MDG initiative and the launch of a second UN decade for water (2005-2015), intends to generate more available resources for Red Cross and Red Crescent water and sanitation projects. During this time, the International Federation plans to target at least an additional five million vulnerable people worldwide.

UNICEF: International Year of Sanitation 2008 launch
NEW YORK, USA, 21 November 2007 -- Almost 2.6 billion people worldwide, 980 million of them children, lack access to even the most basic water and sanitation facilities -- a situation that affects all aspects of their lives, from education to national development.
In a push to make adequate water and sanitation available to everyone, everywhere, His Royal Highness Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Prince of Orange; UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon; UNICEF Executive Director Ann M. Veneman; Goodwill Ambassador Angélique Kidjo; and representatives of other UN agencies and partners came together today at United Nations headquarters in New York to launch the International Year of Sanitation 2008.

How many times every day do New Yorkers get summonses for petty offenses while those agents who write the tickets commit the exact same violations with their official vehicles.
In this scene from the Jimmy Justice documentary we witness sanitation enforcement agent Agnone illegally park her vehicle in a bus stop which is a designated no standing zone.
The average New Yorker would get a summons for commiting this offense.But since cops don't write tickets to other cops , she will instead have to deal with the wrath of the city's vigilante, Jimmy Justice.

UT2004: Sanitation Frag Movie

This is my second ut2004 video. Second time around, i tried to make as little mistakes as possible compared to my first video, escalation. Demo's were recorded on a higher end pc, rather than my old pc which in my opinion ruined my first video. I also believe that the frags in this video were alot better than my first video. I belive also that i have gotten great quality, even thought my highest quality is rather big file size (blame elude, he told me to), but, internet is alot better than in was in the past, so it's i assume it won't be a GIANT problem. I actually have a video card now, so i have used Anti Aliasing at 4x, with Anisotropic Filtering at 8x. This video is also at a faster pase than my other video which was like bulletime in Max Payne (from fast to slow to fast to slow). Like all my video's, I have used an effect called RSMB (ReelSmart Motion Blur).

Awakening - Total Sanitation in Bangladesh - Part 2
The good news for sanitation in the region is that service provision has recently gone from a growth of one percent per year to ten percent per year in Bangladesh.This is in large part due to the successful implementation of the Community-Based Total Sanitation (CLTS) programs that reward villages for eliminating the practice of open defecation.The number of villages achieving open defecation-free status in India jumped from thirty four to 770 last year.Our advocacy of this approach has sparked demand for support from other service providers and governments and we are helping develop institutional approaches that will empower more communities to participate in improving the quality of their own sanitation.
