Selita Ebanks (born February 15,[1] 1983) is a Caymanian model. She is best known for her work with Victoria's Secret and is one of the Victoria's Secret Angels.
Biography
Early life
Selita Ebanks was born on February 15, 1983 in George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory. She was raised in a large family that includes seven brothers. Influenced by her brothers, Ebanks played many sports growing up, such as basketball, soccer and tennis. The Ebanks family was quite poor, living in what she described as "a little blue, zinc-roof shack on Walkers Road". Often, Ebanks didn't have shoes to wear to George Town primary school. Her family, her mother in particular, encouraged her development through extracurricular programs.
Education
Later in life, Ebanks moved to the United States, and settled in Staten Island, New York. After moving to New York City she was accepted at Spelman College, Columbia University, and New York University.However, she graduated from none of these institutions. She had planned to study Law before she started modeling.

At 17 years old, while walking through the turnstiles at Six Flags Great Adventure, Ebanks was scouted by an agent from Elite Model Management. Ebanks worked with some of the world's most noted photographers, including Peter Lindbergh, Bruce Weber, Steven Klein, Carter Smith and Mikael Jansson, and for some of the most quintessential American fashion campaigns, including Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie & Fitch, Levi's and Tommy Hilfiger.
Ebanks is currently working as a model for Victoria's Secret. She had previously done work for their Ipex Bra line, before being signed.She and fellow up-and-coming model Izabel Goulart made their major début in the 2005 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. She is now officially one of the Victoria's Secret Angels.She views Tyra Banks as a mentor. In 2005, Tyra Banks said she was proud of Ebanks to be representing for black women at Victoria's Secret.
Ebanks made a special guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother (episode: "The Yips") on November 26, 2007 with her fellow Victoria's Secret supermodels (Miranda Kerr, Heidi Klum, Adriana Lima, Marisa Miller, and Alessandra Ambrosio).
She made her first appearance on Sports Illustrated's 2007 Swimsuit Issue.
She started to become an all-around-entertainer. She has recorded some music and appeared on the UPN-series South Beach.
Selita promotes across the country for Victoria Secret, but was unfortunately booed at Gillette Stadium while at a New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles game in Foxboro for a Victoria's Secret promotion.
Personal life
Ebanks was engaged to rapper, actor, and comedian Nick Cannon.On October 4, 2007, People magazine announced that the couple has ended their engagement. Selita likes to date athletes and has been very successful running into them at events. Although she has been linked to Tennis player James Blake, star Quarterback for the New England Patriots, Tom Brady, the star Quarterback for Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo and Saskatchewan Roughriders football player Tad Kornegay, she is currently dating star defensive lineman for the New York Giants, Osi Umenyiora and rapper Kanye West Selita also dated her ex-manager Marc Chamberlin and allegedly moved on quickly to a more strategic relationship to her career with Nick Cannon.

Nick Cannon and Selita Ebanks split
Hello it's Friday, October 5, 2007. I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update.
R&B star Nick Cannon and model Selita Ebanks are callign it quits. Ebanks rep tells People magazine teh two have called off their engagement and are splitting up. Her rep says they both need time to focus on their careers but will remain good friends. Cannon popped the question 5 months ago on a jumbotron in New York's Times Square.
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is in Spain filming a new TV series. The Oscar winning actress is reportedly traveling around the country with 3 friends for a PBS series...set to air in the U.S. next fall. Paltrow will accompany food critic Marc Bittman, chef Mario Batali and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols. They're apparently taking a road trip, expected to take up to 4 months, experiencing Spanish culture and tasting the cuisine.
Last night's VH1 Hip Hop Honors celebrated the biggest stars in hip-hop music. Big stars hit the red carpet for the event including rappers LL Cool J and Bow Wow. The event was hosted by comedian Tracey Morgan and featured performance by Timbaland and Tweet as well as Missy Elliot and Nelly Furtado. The fourth annual event will air on Monday on VH1.
Oscar winner Adrien Brody and actress Sarah Polley are teaming up for a new sci-fi film. "Splice," directed by Vincenzo Natali will apparently focus on genetic engineering. It's set to start filming next month in Toranto. Brody is known for his award winning role in "The Pianist," and Polley will soon appear in the HBO series "John Adams."
Meanwhile, Brody is preparing for the U.S. release of his new film. He joined a star studded cast on the red carpet last night for the premiere of "The Darjeeling Limited." The film stars actors Jason Schwartzman, Owen Wilson and Angelica Houston. The film is about 3 brothers traveling on a train to India in an attempt to patch their relationship. It's already hit theaters in Canada but will be in most U.S. theaters today.
