Video Petition - Subscriptions Page
Dear YouTube,
One of the most important aspects of YouTube for many of it's regular users are the small communities that have spontaneously arisen within the YouTube world. The primary vehicle for these communities is subscriptions, which in the past have allowed us to see in one place all of the videos from our favorite channels. This allows us to not only catch up on what we've missed if we've been away for a day or two, but also to create and follow conversational threads through video responses. And finally, the ability to suscribe to many channels and be assured of not missing any videos allows these communities to overlap, creating a cross-pollination that keeps each comunity vibrant and diverse.
The recent changes you've made have forced us to look individually through each channel, which can total hundreds for some people, just to see if each person has any new videos. The most recent 10 videos is simply not enough. An active channel or an aggregate spike in postings from the collection of channels can force a single video off that page in a matter of hours, even minutes in some cases. We may never see that one video, or the delay in finding it could undermine the dynamic nature of the conversations that take place
This is simply unacceptable. It fatally undermines the communities that exist in YouTube. These communities are eroding as I speak. At some point, the damage will be irreversible - these communities will disperse, or balkanize into small echo-chambers because the number of subscriptions that can be effectively managed will be limited by the insanely short time horizon the current subscription page allows.
I beg YouTube to reverse this change, make all the videos from subscribed channels visible on the subscription page. If the load on the system must be minimized, a time horizon of a month, or maybe even a week, would be acceptable, but not an absolute limit on the number of videos.

The prize site keeps whatever money left over that they don't use on prizes... so they make money as well... see? It makes sense, It's not like "OOooOO WOW FREE STUFF FOR NOTHING!" no... because they actually make money as well :)

I dont think that the users that spam subscriptions are a big problem. The problem is how people abuse the auto refresh and comment system. The subscription count is JUST a number. If we want to make changes to the abuse of the system we need to keep an eye out for that kind of abuse. Just my 2 cents.
