James Michael Thompson plays delta gospel and country blues. This was recorded using an Ellis 8 string baritone tricone resonator with a pickup designed by National Resophonic Guitars. James has played on the same bills as Tony Joe White, Michael Franti, the Black Keys, Ben Harper and Bo Diddly. This song is titled Broken Bone Blues and is one that JMT wrote in 2005.

Macedonian Baritone Boris Trajanov - Interview
The Macedonian baritone Boris Trajanov studied singing with his father Goga Trajanov, Biserka Cvejic and Pier Miranda Ferraro. He is a winner of several international singing awards.
From his debut onstage with the Macedonian National Opera in 1986, Boris has sung 35 principal roles in more than 60 opera companies around the world, in cities like Vienna, Moscow, Rome, Bologna, Parma, Palermo, Trieste, Florence, Bergamo, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Stuttgart, Bonn, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Luxembourg, Basle, Oslo, Sгo Paolo, Cape Town and the Pacific Opera (U.S.A.).
From 1986 until September 1991, Boris sung mostly in opera houses in the former Yugoslavia, where he became one of the best baritones. His international career started in Germany, where he gave more than 300 performances. From 1995 on, Boris sang in many European opera houses - especially in Italy, which is for any opera singer the most important goal of his career.
Boris Trajanov has sung in more than 600 performances with Wolfgang Sawallisch, Daniel Oren, Tiziano Severini, Maurizio Arena, Marcello Vioti, Michel Plasson, Eugene Kohn, Daniella Dessi, Helen Donath, Katia Ricciarelli, Raina Kabaivanska, Bruna Baglioni, Peter Seifert, Luis Lima, Lando Bartolini, Alberto Cupido, Nicola Martinucci, and more.
In 1995, with Katleen Cassello and Rundfunkorchester des Südwest, Boris recorded a CD of Operatic arias and duets for Mons Records. His performances were broadcast on Cultura+ (Brazil), BBC3, RAI, Südwest Rudfunk (Germany), Croatian TV Broadcast, Macedonian TV, etc.
Boris Trajanov's repertoire consists of 35 principal baritone roles in Otello, Rigoletto, Macbeth, Nabucco, Aida, Attila, La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Un Ballo in Maschera, Don Carlo, La Forza del destino, I Vespri siciliani, Lucia di Lammermoor, Maria Stuarda, Carmen, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Andrea Chenier, Fedora, Cavalleria Rusticana, Le Roi Artus, Pique Dame/ Prince Yeletzky, Cosi fan tutte/Guglielmo, Die Rheingold/ Donner, etc.

Slide bottleneck country blues improvisation on a Danelectro type baritone guitar through an old fender deluxe reverb tube amp and Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer distortion/overdrive converted to the TS808 (TS-808 resistor mod) for more overdrive and warmth. Open E tuning for an A tuned 6-string baritone. The vibrato tremelo is a voodoo lab pedal.

Blending the sounds of Delta slide greats such as Blind Willie Johnson and Robert Johnson with his own eclectic past experience and training in classical guitar and heavy metal, Tompo is a 27 year old Australian blues musician with a big voice and a quietly endearing stage presence, using his guitars, blues harp, stomp-box and shakers to convey his heartfelt songs of 'good news blues.'
James Michael Thompson sound has been honed and refined by the influences of Jeff Lang, John Lee Hooker, Lloyd Spiegel, Paul Simon and Skip James. Beginning to gig in earnest in late 2004, James Michael Thompson credits include debuting at the acclaimed Bridgetown Blues Festival in 2005; supports for 'The Bondi Cigars and Lloyd Spiegel at the Perth Blues Club, hosting the Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society's (MBAS) blues night at the Cornish Arms and demonstrating the one-of-a-kind Ellis Guitars Seven String Resonator at the Frankston Guitar Festival in 2005. James Michael Thompson has also performed alongside the likes of Collard, Greens and Gravy; The Black Sorrows and Guy Davis at the Mordialloc Music by the Bay; Queensland songsmiths Loren & Marcus Bancroft; as well as performing on the same bill as Michael Franti and Jamie Cullum at the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival.
James Michael Thompson recorded his first E.P 'Light Your Way' in 2005, which has found its way into homes across Australia and has received airplay on local, national and international radio. The track 'Broken Bone Blues' was a finalist in the Western Australian Music Industry (WAM) Song of the Year contest for 2005.
He may be still a relative stranger to the Australian music scene but James Michael Thompson is fast winning fans and praise country-wide. He has been described by Sonia Meggs, the President of the MBAS as a 'true bluesman':
"At a very young age James Michael Thompson has captured the blues and made it his own. You will be enthralled by his presentation and style of his music, his vocals are deep and soulful reminding me of the past struggles of men working on a chain-gang, or in the cotton fields in the deep south in the days of slavery. James Michael Thompson is a true bluesman!"
