SB BNSF Snowstorm Lexington Ave. Norman, OK 11-30-2006.wmv
An arctic cold front moved into Oklahoma yesterday, November 29, 2006 bringing an end to the Indian Summer weather that had prevailed over the last few weeks, and a massive arctic air mass has now settled over the region. Now, it's November 30 and this monster winter storm system is bringing heavy snow to most of the state of Oklahoma, with some areas in the northern part of the state receiving as much as a foot of snow. Classes at OU are cancelled due to the weather, and most of the smart people are inside keeping warm with friends/family or watching TV or whatever.
And so, what do I decide to do? Here in Norman, OK, at 6PM, during the worst part of it all, heavy blowing snow is falling and accumulating quickly as a southbound BNSF manifest train drudges southward through the Lexington Avenue grade crossing on the north side of town. The ex-BN loco features a sharp horn that carries very well with temperatures in the mid teens and windchills below zero. My fingers and ears loved every minute of it...
Note that the striping on the gate is incorrect. The gate was installed upside down. FRA regulations require the stripes to be slanted towards the mast they're attached to, so that it tells drivers NOT to go around the gate. The stripes on this gate installation are leaning away from the mast, which says to an impatient driver "Go around me!" BNSF should have corrected this when they changed out the mechanical bell with the electronic bell. Fix it BNSF!

BNSF 9277 (Coal Train)
BNSF Coal Train (C-BSMCOB) heads to the east seen here east of Bemidji, MN. The lead unit is BNSF 9277 (SD60M) repainted in the H1 paint scheme. The second unit is the BNSF 9297(SD60M). This unit has a very unique "dual" paint scheme. The third unit in the consist is BNSF 8215 (SD75M) in the Warbonnet paint scheme. This video features scanner audio of the defect detector which is located at MP 93.0 on the BNSF's Grand Forks Sub Division.

BNSF ES44DC 7551, BNSF Dash 9-44CW 5434 and BNSF Dash 9-44CW 4836 lead a westbound stack train through Berwyn, IL., on the BNSF Chicago Subdivision. In the beginning of the video, the train can be seen departing Clyde Yard.

For Railfans, BNSF C44-9W's chug at 11mph thru Santa Ana along Lincoln, right through the neighborhood. The 4th unit was a Norfolk Southern. It's common to see autoracks thru here at least once daily.
