However, there are significant differences because of how the App Engine Datastore works. This talk will introduce the App Engine Model Framework and show how to use it to represent real-world information. Learn about the various types of information you can store using the Model and how to create relationships between entities. Beyond the basics, you can learn how to extend the model to store custom data types. In the course of this demonstration, we will build a model to represent a common and practical use case - User preferences.

Data Integration - 1
What is data integration (DI)? At present DI is buzz word in industry and every organization, in one form or another has DI intitiative. There are few basic concept which should be understood and socialized with the organization before starting the DI intiative and make the DI intiative successful. DI is part of EDW life cycle. And it is very important to understand at what phase of EDW life cycle DI should be done. DI should be more driven from business rather than techinical requirements. Business community should be full invloved in the DI initiative. Data Governance plays very critical role in DI initiative. First phase of EDW life cycle is to collect differnt source system data ( internal and external) and store in EDW data store in standardize format. At this data store, data should also be cleanized, enable point in time analysis on source system data. In this data store ( which is also referred as ODS or acquisition layer) data is not transformed. Data is stored in source facing structure. Business comunity should be using this data to get any source related information from this data store. The objective should be to get business community confidence in collected data and they should provide feedback about the data. Datamart may also be build from this layer to support any analytical reporting requiremen before DI layer is available. In the later part of EDW life cycle, once EDW has business community confidence, DI initiative should be taken. This DI initiative should come as requirement from business community.
