In the current episode of KBR, we talk story with Grammy-Award winning Ki Ho'alu master, Cyril Pahinui. From Borders Bookstores in Waikele, Pahinui shares what life was like, growing up with Pops Gabby Pahinui in one of the most well known Hawaiian music families around.
This music video, an Exclusive to Kama'aina Backroadsâ„¢, was shot on location at He'eia Bay, just south of Keauhou on Hawai'i island. The song tells of King David Kalalakua's favorite surfing spot - He'eia Bay - and of an attraction Kalakaua took to a lovely maiden on shore. Of course, there's kaona to the story - but in classic Hawaiian fashion, that aspect of the story might best be told in a more private platform...
