Breaking the Cycle Gang Exiting Program(1of2)Toronto, Canada
Gang Exiting Program-Canada - Breaking the Cycle is an excellent example of the types of programs that are needed all over Canada. Breaking the Cycle is operating in the Rexdale and Scarborough areas of Toronto.
A core funding formula to sustain programs like this for the long term, so the dedicated workers like Jabari and Andrew can spend the time they need with the kids is vitally necessary. Currently workers like Jabari and Andrew spend much of their time applying for and justifying funding grants from several sources on a continuous basis.
Jabari Lindsay and Andrew Bacchus of Breaking the Cycle spoke to Probation Officers and School Teachers working directly with youth March 5, 2008 in Toronto. Some videos of the presentation were recorded and will be posted on www.YouTube.com/NoToGangsONGIA. Anyone wishing to speak to Jabari or Andrew about their program can contact Jabari in Rexdale at 416-745-1829 e-mail: jabari.lindsay@gmail.com / Andrew in Scarborough 416-293-1287 or e-mail andrew.btc@rbs.rogers.com.
