My Mario Fan Game: Super Mario Fusion - Mario Meets Halo
This video is horribly outdated.
Thanks to Axel Night at Attacked by Gorillas for the link to Joy2Key, which coverts keyboard input to joystick input: http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm
Here's another joystick-to-keyboard emulator: http://www.freewareweb.com/cgi-bin/archive.cgi?download=1&ID=1625
1. Halo graphics are from HALO ZERO by Dobermann Software, which includes Dobermann, Chainsaw, AlexTheBlind, 58, and Atomik. Used by permission.
2. Yes, I have coded in the ability to discard your weapon.
3. I know I suck. I am not playing for skil, but to show off the level layout.
3. I will delete any comments that consist of the following: "It's not Mario." "Halo sucks." (any flame comments or non-constructive criticisms).
Super Mario Fusion is a crossover Mario fan game made in Game Maker 7 Pro using a heavily modified version of the Super Mario Bros. Hello Engine III. I expect to release the demo and source by the weekend of January 11-13.
Halo will be its own world in this crossover Mario fan game. I've developed three Halo weapons into the game: Plasma Pistol (with charge shot), Assault Rifle, and Covenant Plasma Rifle; Mario can use them all!
The most significant aspect of the Halo levels is that THERE IS NO TIME LIMIT. Many enemies will be strategically placed throughout the levels, so you are required to work your way through the enemy fortifications at your own pace. Also, Halo weaponry will make certain sections easier, but Mario can still use his own weaponry (shells, fireballs, hammers, invincibility) to kill the Covenant. The Covenant cannot be stomped.
The level featured will be in the demo release. Believe it or not, this level is only 40% complete. I still have one more sublevel planned after the checkpoint, and additional level design tweaks are needed for all areas of the level. As it stands, this is a very difficult level because of the timely pace and patience required for most sections of this level.

Sonic GL Fan Game
03/09/07 : -__-', I've ever said that me the Sonic GL Maker
Fan Games, Sonic GL http://www.bosser-jerome.com/
Jêrome bosser (Sonic GL's Maker) say :
(July/12/2007)
Hello everyone! Thanks for all your support, I haven't updated the site since a while (one year and half...), sorry.
I decided stop making Sonic GL when Sega annonced their Sonic Next Gen, I was thinking that they could release PC games and I don't want to compete with it or they will surely shut down this website ( like SquareSoft done with Chrono project... without reason in fact cause they don't use this licence anymore )
and of course I like Sega and I would like they manage to success like they done in the past.
I haven't played the nextgen Sonic because after seeing video and screens I think that they missed their opportunity to make revive the Sonic License.
When I stopped Sonic GL, I was making special stages
in 3D like those in Sonic3/&K with red and blue balls (I LOVE those special stages)
and some crazy races against Ferrari, F14..., and Metal Sonic, very funny.
Now I'm in Tokyo for 3 month, last year I've started my own company in computer development, and actually I'm making games for mobile devices (If only I can have Sonic license :-[, I'll make a 2D game that every sonic fans waiting for)
I don't know yet if I will continue Sonic GL.
Sega doesn't matter about this game, maybe I'll try to make them take a look at it, If one of you could write a mail in Japanese to Sega lol.
See you soon for updates and let me know if many people are waiting for SonicGL..
If someone have any special request : bosser_jerome at yahoo.fr
Thank a lot,
Jérome

My Mario Fan Game: Super Mario Fusion - Halo Covenant Test
READ THIS: I decided not to nerf Mario's powers for the Halo levels. Ignore what you read in the video's commentary.
Demo release estimate: Weekend of January 11-13.
This is a Mario fan game with a dark atmosphere. It is made in Game Maker 7 PRO using a modified Super Mario Bros. Hello Engine III as its basis. This video shows off a test of three custom enemies based on the Halo Zero enemies. The three Halo Covenant enemies done so far are: Grunt w/ Plasma Pistol, Grunt Grenadier w/ Plasma Grenades, and Elite with 3-way Plasma Rifle.
As of this video, here are all the improvements done to the Hello Engine III for Super Mario Fusion:
Greatly improved basic platforming engine, including:
*Drastic renovation of basic platform engine, utilizing "collision markers".
*Completely eliminated getting stuck in walls in mid-jump.
*Movement while swimming fixed.
*Run animation speeds fixed.
*Basic physics (defeated enemies' initial vertical speed and shattered brick shards) fixed.
*Moving Platform handling greatly improved.
*Game mechanics changes:
**Hitting a shelled creature with the tail or a block (Koopa, Buzzy Beetle, Spiny) will leave the shell instead of killing it completely.
*Major code structure overhaul (removing about 500 kilobytes of redundant code!):
**Moved common events (like points for stomping enemies and hurt mario) into separate single function call scripts.
*Implemented own easily customizable parallax scrolling functions.
*Removed all of Mario's voice clips. The constant repetitive speech gets very annoying quickly.
*Made Mario's Hammers destroy most enemies that he cannot destroy with Fireballs.
*All Hammers (Mario's suit and the Bros') had their physics fixed.
*Fixed the trajectory of Mario's Fireballs so that he can hit enemies up front and close to him.
*Score fonts cleaned up, initial vertical speed slowed down, and deceleration decreased.
*Implemented proper SMW kick sound "musical scale" when performing consecutive kills with stomping, shells, and invincibility.
*Increased injury invincibility time from 60 steps (1 second) to 180 steps (3 seconds).
*Added the 8000-point bonus, which was not included originally in the engine.
*Certain values, like invincibility times, are stored as global constants. This is useful from a modding aspect if you want to change the invincibility times. Expect more values to be made into constants for easy modding.
As far as Halo is concerned, look for the Plasma Grenades to stick to Mario before detonating. Also, look for more Covenant, like Gold Elites and Hunters.
Many thanks to Dobermann Software, makers of Halo Zero, for the extremely well-done 2D Halo sprites!
The preliminary world layout for the final version (not the demo version!):
World 1: The Mushroom Kingdom (standard Mario stuff)
World 2: Alternate Earth (Military War Zone and other real-world locations)
World 3: Mega Man's World (Levels based on those of the original Mega Man series)
World 4: The Demon Realm (Levels based on DOOM, Castlevania, and Ghouls and Ghosts)
World 5: Ocean of Oblivion (Lair of the Leviathan goes here, along with surreal swimming levels)
World 6: SHMUPS Domain (Sky Pop and Marine Pop-only levels. Expect levels based on Gradius and R-Type)
World 7: Realm of Nintendo (Levels based on and featuring Link, Samus, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and more)
World 8: Sonic's World
World 9: Halo Ringworld (features Halo characters and enemies)
World 0: Twisted Reality (comparable to Kingdom Hearts II's World That Never Was)

Parallel Dimensions '99 (1999 SHMUP fan-game)
Here is my very first fangame. It is made in 1999 in Klik 'n Play, later ported to Multimedia Fusion to take advantage of advanced features.
Get the game at: http://www.sendspace.com/file/abp1vz
It is a Gradius-style shmup that has a prominent dimension-hopping element. That element has been a staple in my fangames since, from Xeno Fighters EX all the way to Super Mario Fusion.
Since it is my first fan game, it does have its flaws. For example, the weapons system is very unpolished and confusing. One weapon is completely useless (it was more of Klik 'n Play's fault, since I had almost no control over variables).
This video showcases the final mission, which is a trip to Microsoft Land, a hellish reality of the Microsoft environment from the mid-90's!
General Protection Faults!
EMM386 Exception errors!
Flying Windows Icons!
Program Manager!
This stage has both a midboss and a final boss, complete with cutscenes.
