Americans have always wondered what the strange and eerie results might be of the hundreds of atomic tests that shattered the skyline over Yucca Flats, Nevada in the 40's and 50's... and thanks to low-rent director supreme Coleman Francis and B-movie star of the first magnitude Tor Johnson, they finally got their answer.
This 1961 thriller includes everything you could possibly want in a drive-in anti-classic: secret atomic testing, innocent victims, KGB agents armed to the teeth, bumbling police officers, nearly naked girls, and one hell of a creepy baddie. You're stomach will churn from the first geiger counter soundtracked necrophilliac love scene to the bunny-laden final act!
The glorious Tor Johnson can also be seen in Plan 9 From Outer Space, Carousel, and Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion.

Project-JK Coyote Flats Perseid Meteor Shower Jeep Trail Run
This video is of a very easy run we did with a group of Jeep JK Wrangler Rubicon, Sahara and X models up to Coyote Flats which is located in the East Sierra Nevada Mountains south west of Bishop, CA. We went up here to watch to Perseid Meteor showers that were supposed to peak on this particular weekend. Places we stopped to see along the way include Baker Creek, Coyote Lake, Coyote Ridge which sits over 11,000 ft, Funnel Lake and a myriad of mines.

Terror Mc - Liberate yourself (Cape Flats, S.A.)
Video for the first single off Terror Mc's 1st album. Lyrics in Afrikaans (Cape slang) and English. Filmed in Kraaifontein and Bishop Lavis townships (Cape Town), it shows people and places that are rarely seen on tv.
Terror MC is the illest Afrikaans language rhyme spitter on the Cape Flats, rocking crowds from township to township with his unique dexterity in the Afrikaans language. He is currently in the studio recording his debut album that will be released in 2008.

Ward Kimball Tomorrow at Grizzly Flats - Part 1
The great animation website "Cartoon Brew" called attention to LA Times writer Bob Pool's article about Ward Kimball's Grizzly Flats Railroad, which "ended its long run on a short track" in May, 2007.
The railroad "inspired Walt Disney, excited neighborhood families and brought joy to the family that owned and ran it."
The Tomorrow Show visited Grizzly Flats around 1978. If you're a fan of Ward Kimball, Tom Snyder, or railroads, life-size as well as model (I'm a fan of all) you'll enjoy this program, presented here in seven parts.
Parts 1-7 run in order are the complete show minus commercials - about 45 minutes. Segments shot outside are in Parts 1,4,5 and 7; Model Train Room and Toy Room segments are 2,3,5, and 6.
To quote Pool again, on the big trains: "It was short in length — but long in its reach. The Grizzly Flats Railroad's steam engines traveled for 70 years along a 500-foot-long stretch of rails next to the San Gabriel home of Betty and Ward Kimball. Along the way, the Kimballs' picturesque narrow-gauge line helped inspire Walt Disney to build the famous passenger train system that circles Disneyland."

Ward Kimball Tomorrow at Grizzly Flats - Part 4
Tom Snyder and his crew are out of the train room and back outside now, moving from model trains to Ward's full-sized ones.
Bob Pool of the LA Times: "In the beginning, Kimball's backyard railroad sprouted its tracks almost by accident. Kimball was a lifelong train fan.
"On his first date with Betty, he had taken her to a rail yard to measure a box car. He and his new wife purchased 2 1/2 acres of a San Gabriel orange grove and were preparing to build a home in 1937 when he decided to buy a surplus train car to house his growing model train layout. For $50 he bought an abandoned narrow-gauge passenger coach (used on 3-foot-wide track instead of the standard 4-feet, 8 1/2 -inches) that Southern Pacific had operated in the Owens Valley. A year later, he bought a similar-sized 1881 steam engine that was being scrapped by the Nevada Central Railroad. Later, he would also acquire a 1906 box car and caboose, a 1917 gondola and a 1915 stock car, along with a small 1907 switch engine used at a Hawaiian sugar plantation.
"The weekend 'steam-ups,' as the Kimballs called them, attracted crowds. Workers and executives from Hollywood film studios often wrangled invitations, as did neighbors."
