Food Network Subliminal Advertising?
I was watching the end of today's (1/21/07) Iron Chef and noticed the screen quickly blink red. A few seconds later I start thinking, "Was that the McDonalds logo...?" Thanks to the magic of my Dish Network DVR, I rewind, and put it in to slow motion.
Sure enough, Food Network is allowing McDonalds to run subliminal advertisements in the middle of their programming!

Subliminal McDonald's ad on Food Network
A single frame out of the show Iron Chef America was replaced with a still advertising frame of the sponsor of the show for this night; McDonald's. If it was it enough that McDonald's had several commercials during this show and also put their logo on the judges scores when they came up (as you will see in the video) they had to take it as far as inject subliminal marketing into the show itself. This video show the real time view of it twice as well as the view when my DVR is set to play it back in 1/15 speed slow motion. And we all thought we were safe from advertising on TV with the invention of the DVR. I actually rewound this 4 times with my wife and she didn't catch it till the 4th time. That makes you wonder how much you have been marketed to without knowing it'; doesn't it? I am all for marketing and advertising it if is deliberate and you can make an assessment of the product afterwards but don't go this low McDonald's. It just makes you look worse than you already are after movies like Super Size Me, etc.

LLVLC On YouTube: "Ask Aida" On Food Network (Episode 37)
When The Food Network invited http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com blogger Jimmy Moore to submit his cooking dilemmas in a 45- to 90-second video for a brand new show coming in August 2008, he was armed and ready to go with this challenge. Jimmy and "this one" (aka, his wife Christine) talk about how YOU can also submit your videos for a chance to have it appear on a future episode of the "Ask Aida" show on The Food Network.
In this latest episode of their popular "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" video series, Jimmy and Christine share not just one, but TWO videos they submitted to the producers at the "Ask Aida" show for consideration to appear in the show for Aida Mollenkamp to answer. It's a neat opportunity, although they wouldn't allow Jimmy to use his blog's URL in my submission. That's okay, because YOU know who he is. :D
The first video features Jimmy asking Aida if she can help spruce up his egg-making ability. The second video highlights a brand new recipe that Jimmy recently came up with for mashed cauliflower cakes that are out of this world. But he can't get them to brown, so he's hoping Aida has a low-carb answer for him.
If you want to submit your own videos to the "Ask Aida" show on The Food Network, then simply go to http://www.foodnetwork.com/aida and upload it there. Remember, it needs to be fun, entertaining, and ask a question related to cooking that has you stumped. There are a lot of hams here on YouTube, so ham it up for the producers of "Ask Aida" and you very well may appear on The Food Network! GOOD LUCK!!!
