London to Brighton in 4 minutes BBC interlude. From the days when TV was all live and programming was hectic. Often when one program finished, the next one was not ready yet, and the gap had to be filled. So the BBC developed a number if interludes to fill these gaps, this being the most famous one. I think the others included a potters wheel and playing cats.

The London to Brighton vintage car rally- 20061
The London to Brighton vintage car rally is an annual event that showcases vintage cars built before 1905 and coming from all over the world.
I haphazardly came across this event hanging out in the street of East Croydon early in the morning while waiting to get ready to come back to New York City. When the first clip was taken, I had not known the funny looking cars were part of a rally. Rather, I thought that the people in East Croydon had some special kind of public transportation looking like the old cars. It was not until almost half and hour later when I asked a police what those things were did I learn about the annual rally.

London To Brighton In 3½ Minutes
The BBC's 60th birthday was in 1983, and as part of the celebrations they recreated the famous timelapse interlude recorded 30 years earlier. This version starts with a clip of the 1950's original, and then the picture changes to colour & the train starts a much faster journey, at an average speed of 1100mph, compared to 765mph in the older version - that's technology for you!.
The clip was shown on 15.7.83 after Nationwide.
The 50's edition used speeded up train noises for it's background sound while the soundtrack for this 80's version is an excellent synth-pop sound which is typical for the time it was made, with added sound effects for when the train passes through stations & tunnels.
By coincidence, the time this was broadcast was also the 50th anniversary of the electrification of the London to Brighton line.
This video is extremely rare - unlike the more common 1953 clip, I have not seen any repeats and it is not anywhere else on the Internet, so enjoy it here.
