How to hold the mandolin and plectrum - by Ralf Leenen
Many people ask me about mandolin technique and how to hold the mandolin and plectrum properly.
So this is a first (and very simple) "still" video which shows some of the basics.
Of course there are other mandolin methods, but being from the mandolin school of Silvio Ranieri, this is what I have been taught and feel comfortable with.
You will see a Roman mandolin (Embergher) and a Roman plectrum, but the basic technique and way of holding can be applied to any mandolin and plectrum. (However, a flatback mandolin would feel a bit different).
