What I meant by "THIS IS COOL":
This WAS "cool" because I knew that the firefighters had it under control before it started, but NOT... "cool" because I wanted to see it get out of control. The vegitation on the hill was cut from the middle of the hill down and firefighters were covering all sides of the hill just in case something happened. I was a firefighter myself before I became a full time film maker, so I understood the procedure. Anyone leaving me hateful comments about saying "This is cool!" is just prejudgement and too ignorant to read this description... and THAT is NOT cool. Stay positive, because this video wasn't suppose to be any other way.
This was just MY experience on 4th of July and NO ONE was hurt.
WHAT HAPPENED?
During a city fireworks display on top of a hill that we call "Tarantula Hill", a firework shell misfired and landed in some near by vegetation. Luckily, the firefighters were prepared and the fire was quickly put out. Since I'm always armed with a camera, I had to share the moment while it lasted, but unfortunately I didn't capture the flash. I shot this video from the roof of my home.
In times like this, I sure miss being a firefighter! MeMoRiEs...

I live in Thousand Oaks and this was filmed at 3:00 pm on Tuesday October 23rd. It may look like a sunset, but trust me... the sun was far from setting. We've got ashes raining and it's really nasty out.
I've got a bad cough and everything smells like camp fire, but we're all ok in Thousand Oaks. I brought my animals inside, out of the smoke. We are in the middle of some of the biggest fires, but it doesn't look like it'll come our way. Let's cross our fingers.

Torah Dedication Chabad of Thousand Oaks
Chabad of Thousand Oaks was honored to receive a Torah, generously donated by Rabbi Mordechai and Ethel Bryski in memory of their parents (great-grandparents of Rabbi Chaim Bryski, Rabbi of Chabad of Thousand Oaks), survivors of the Holocaust. This scroll was rescued from the Holocaust as well, and was painstakingly restored before coming to its permanent home at the Thousand Oaks Jewish Center.
