Analog Oscillator Comparison
It is often stated that all oscillators sound alike, and that it is really difficult to discern one oscillator from another, be them analog or digital. I have received a lot of flack regarding my statement that the triangle wave on the Minimoog is special.
So, as a result, I thought it might be interesting to take three of the most popular analog synthesizers and put their oscillators (and filters) to the test.
And you! Can you tell which is which?
The first part of the video demonstrates the waveforms of each synth without naming them. See if you can guess.

Chaotic Audio Oscillator for iPhone, 2008
This is an iPhone application which generates a beautiful noise. iPhone itself works just like a broken audio oscillator. You don't need a computer (nor a synthesizer, of course).
This application is not distributed at this time because it's very buggy and freezes your iPhone certainly. Please check the other information at http://www.iamas.ac.jp/~aka/iphone/

HHO fuel cell - Voltage oscillator
This shows the new voltage oscillator in action. You can see how it emulates the signal that comes from your O2 sensor. This is important especially for those with ECM's that expect oscillated voltage on the O2 signal input instead of constant voltage. In addition, the voltage adder with the new oscillator could potentially be used to TEMPORARILY replace your O2 sensor if yours has gone bad and your engine is running in open-loop. This unit will now give your ECM what it needs to run in closed-loop, but note that you should still replace your O2 sensor as soon as possible!
I have drawings made up of both the adder box and the oscillator network. I just need to get them posted for you to see. I could build either one, or both, for you but both are simple enough that you could build them, and that would give you a great little learning project if you haven't built something like these before. :)
I re-installed the voltage adder (with newly installed oscillator) this evening. Also, I got a suggestion of "COSM" for "Circuit Output Signal Modifier" as a name for the box other than simply "voltage adder", and absent any other suggestions I believe I'll start referring to this unit as the "COSM" from here on out.
See views of the wiring of the COSM (voltage adder) and the new oscillator at:
http://www.freewebs.com/jhines2
The oscillator views are the Gerber views I generated from my PCB design software so you can see the circuit with all layers at once along with separate views of the top-copper and bottom-copper layers so you can better visualize the connections. You can still use these views nicely to breadboard the oscillator. You could also enhance it by replacing the 1k and 100k resistors with variable onboard pots so you can vary the charge and discharge times of the capacitor to alter the cycle of the pulses.
