Parallax Augmented Desktop - Prototype I
Head tracking + opengl used to augment the traditional desktop space by considering the real screen as a virtual aperture on the face of a cube that extends behind it. By moving the head, the user can focus naturally on each of the inner faces of this cube, place icons and leave opened applications there.

Parallax (7/16/45/7/16/69) Windy & Carl-Balance/BOC
Parallax is the apparent shift of an object in relation to the background whenever the observer moves. In this video, I wish to expand the perception of the viewer. I noticed that the blast around the first atomic detonation at White Sands Trinity, New Mexico in 1945 closely resembled the ejection blankets of lunar craters which is but one of the reasons why I juxtaposed these two images. The other overarching reason was the Trinity detonation and the launch of Apollo 11 both occured on July 16th. In addition, the juxtaposition of the holy Trinity and the Trinity detonation is also of import. I've included Prometheus because he brought fire to humanity and, in my eyes, I view this as both a blessing and a curse. Humankind now has the power to both destroy or liberate itself through science. Perhaps the answer lies not in an atavistic religious view of the world or the hegemony of science, but in a balance between the two. In the words of Albert Einstein, "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." The final juxtaposition between the earth and Neil Armstrong's lunar footprint shows both the light and dark in all of us as the dissolve between the shadow of the footprint and earth illustrates. Parallax Commodore 64
I'd like to thank ratix98 for telling me about Parallax. It's really quite an amazing tune for the C64. Martin Galway composed some truly amazing music.
I would however like to apologize about the song being incomplete. The intro simply HAD to be cut, otherwise I couldn't meet the 10:59 minute limit. I added a little bit of the repetition at the end, but I feel the overall song isn't diminished too much. Enjoy.
