Physiology 101
Yo, sixth period! Let's kick it!
Bill, Bill Wallace!
Bill, Bill Wallace!
Alright, stop. Take notes and listen,
Bill's returning, from a convention.
Sperm and egg holding on tightly,
Making a zygote overnightly.
What's next? I don't know.
Seniors keep messin up the flow.
Proliferation actin like a vandal,
Too much cleavage I just can't handle.
Next! We got the blastula,
Take out the middle, get a gastrula.
Endo, ecto, mesoderm,
It all begins with the sperm.
Love it or leave it, that's how it goes,
This is how you get your toes.
In the end, we got an adult cell.
It's all thanks to... Morphogenesis!
Bill, Bill Wallace!
Bill, Bill Wallace!
Bill, Bill Wallace!
Bill, Bill Wallace!
------------------------------
Pattern formation, homeotic genes
Put appendages onto segments
Pattern formation from a zygote
To a bicoid
Which starts polarity
Um ba ba be
Um ba ba be
De day day
Ee day day--that's okay
We got gap and pair rule
Then segmentation
Here come the homeotic
Hex genes!
Add appendages and then build them
Induction sends out morphogens
Day day de mm hm
Ba da da ba ba
OKAY
------------------------------
Let's change forms tonight
Become a committed cell tonight
Divide to make more stem cells tonight
Makin' specialized cells is what we all say, right?
Makin up tissues in the body is for sure
Damn, we won't change forms anymore
You ask, cause we're researched
Do anybody wanna be the future cure to cancer?
Bow in the presence of greatness
Cause right now thou has taken us
You should be honored by our lateness
That we'd even show up to help this
So go ahead, you won't want to miss this
Especially once we seperate an commit to this
Act like you don't know we're the source of all this
New organ, go ahead and take us, hater!

Nerve Physiology - sciatic nerve and gastrocnemius
A clip from Physiology lab. We ran a current of moderate tetanizing strength through the sciatic nerve of a frog's leg. Movement of the gastrocnemius muscle was then observed. The current was gradually intensified, and the changes in the motion of the leg noted.
